Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful even had umbrellas available for guests free of charge. Laundry facilities available in the hotel free of charge, detergent is free. Subway and bus transportation within a few minutes walking from hotel. Many restaurants and even American fast food close by. Most tourist attractions within 20 - 30 minutes walking distance if you don’t want to use bus or subway. Would stay in this hotel again.
The place was quiet and comfortable. It was a little difficult for me to find, but it was in walking distance to gwangjang market and Myeongdong street. I traveled alone as an 18 year old girl and felt safe, however the streets were a bit dirty in this area I noticed. Over all I’d give this place a five star review and like to thank the staff for not charging me extra when I ran ten minutes late during me check out.
LOVED this stay. Solo female traveller that stayed for two weeks and felt so welcomed by the staff here.
Fresh towels every day and bed made if wanted. Free water - even though bottled water in Seoul is cheap it made such a difference! 2 mins walk away from the nearest convenience store which was well stocked. Had a kettle in room and microwave in hallway so if you didn’t feel up for eating out you could make something in your room.
The bathroom was stocked with toiletries and a comb. Bathroom did get filled with water when you shower but that’s kind of the point of the room - it’s a wet room - so bring a pair of sliders to avoid getting your feet wet.
Friendliest staff - would always offer a free umbrella if I didn’t have one due to it being monsoon season!
Only downside would be that the area immediately outside the hotel was kind of dingy but never felt unsafe - just smelt due to the multiple restaurants cooking fish outside.
Location excellent - one minute away from the nearest subway station which had 3 lines connecting through it, 10 minute walk from the nearest Hanok street and 20 minute walk away from Myeongdong. Also right next to a chain coffee shop for an easy breakfast combined with convenience store food.
Overall a lovely stay, good for the price, safe for solo female travellers and would definitely return when I come back to Seoul.
Well located, near a bus stop and subway station. Only needed to take a bus from Incheon Airport.
Staff was super friendly and helpful, room was cozy and clean.
Hotel stay was awesome. Hotel is in a little less lively part of the city as apposed to other areas but that can be a good thing. Very easy to get to other areas given Seoul's world class train system. Much cheaper
to use and easier to navigate compared to Tokyo's train system.
They also provided me with a free electricity charger converter to borrow which I did not return to them.
I would like to apoligize to the nice staff at this establishment and give them a 11/10 rating.
+ Clean
+ Large luggage stand
+ Good location near subway
+ Walking distance to Ikseon-dong, and Gwangjang markets
+ When it rained, the staff put out complimentary umbrellas in the lobby for guests to use
- Extremely small
- There is no chair let alone space to put a chair
- Whole bathroom floor gets wet after taking a shower
The property was nice, when booking didn't realize it was literally in a back alley but it was easy enough to get to from the 1 line metro station, we had an issue with the A/C on the first night and had to ask the desk manager to come check it out 3 times before it eventually was resolved, we also found a clump of hair in our bed sheets when we first got into our room and they were obviously not ours, overall the venue was decent, you could hear the upstairs neighbors whenever something moved but it was clean and smelt nice even when there were 2 fish restaurants right outside that did make a bit of a smell (obviously no fault of the venue itself). It was a good stay and was easily connected to multiple parts of Seoul through the bus and subway lines directly outside the hotel.
We really enjoyed our two night stay here before our flight back to the US. Because we'd been in Seoul before, we knew the location and found it with no problems. The room was clean (yes, small, but we knew that going in) and the rooftop area was awesome. We left our luggage there for a few hours upon checkout without problems. All employees were friendly and professional. Would definitely recommend!
Clean, well run small hotel, very affordable budget option, room is basically large enough to fit the queen bed and a few luggages, no room to hang out or lounge, but fit my wife and I. Walking distance to the nearby Gwangjang market and other tourist attractions (Hanbok village, palace), very central.
We had a wonderful stay in Hoi Ann at this hotel. The the room was clean and quiet and the service was amazing. Ruby is (as others have said) the true gem of Gem Riverside Hotel. She always made sure my fiance and I and our friends were well taken care of and gave us wonderful advice on where to go and also arranged transportation for us.
We loved using the bikes to get around (although some of them could use a bit of maintenance, but they were on par with the condition of other bikes in town. I think the humidity is just a tough environment for bikes).
Great stay, would come here again.
Very clean and well located hotel. Staff were very friendly, quick check in and helped us book a taxi on check out. Would definitley stay again. Only small point but the showers don’t have a proper closing so if you are staying as a family, the whole bathroom gets wet by the time you have all showered, but again only a minor point. All in all, a fabulous stay!
