This historic and award-winning, Obie Bowman-designed cabin is sure to bring adventure to your next Sea Ranch getaway. This home features redwood-clad walls, plenty of natural light from beautiful skylights, and a second-story deck overlooking the Redwood trees. Built as one of 15 “walk-in” vacation cabins, this unique home's design was guided by a concern for minimizing the visual and physical impacts on the land. Vehicles for these 15 homes are restricted to a single parking area with easy access via foot trails and a limited use road for easy loading and unloading. Additionally, the lots for these homes are just large enough to accommodate the cabins, leaving nearly 90% of the land as a perpetual natural preserve.

Relax on the balcony overlooking a bird's-eye white water view of the Pacific Ocean. During the day, enjoy the nearby forest trails or cross Highway 1 to hike on the bluff trails. Head over to the shared swimming pools, saunas, and tennis courts at any of the three recreation centers. At night, you can relax and warm your toes by the wood stove while streaming your favorite movie via Netflix or DVD (there is a DVD rental store in Gualala) on the 50-inch flatscreen TV. Upstairs in the master bedroom, you can open the gorgeous skylights to watch the stars and the milky way at night, or close them so that you can sleep in as late as you want!

Enjoy the nature and serenity of the iconic, architecturally significant coastal community of Sea Ranch, home to many hiking trails and beaches including Stengel Beach nearby. Tee off at the Sea Ranch Golf Links only eight miles away, or visit one of the three community recreation centers to enjoy the shared amenities. The charming town of Gualala is just a short drive from home for grocery stores, art galleries, and restaurants.

peaceful with views
everything was wonderful. perfectly peaceful with a great view of the ocean. 2 negatives-dishes were filthy and had to be washed before using and the mattress was horrible. it was so bad that we both woke with back aches. i had to out couch pillows under on side yo keep from rolling off the bed and to fill in the huge hole to get it to be semi flat.

Loved my stay here
I had to travel to The Sea Ranch to meet our architect and decided to telecommute for a few days from Redwood Grove. It was so nice and relaxing. I love the walk-in cabin style and the tranquility of being in a redwood grove. This is the life!

Beautiful view and amazing hot tub.
Cozy cabin in the trees with a nice deck to enjoy the view. The kitchen is a bit funky. The vent fan for the stove blows right back at you. I think they may have screwed the outside vent closed. Maybe to keep something out of the house? Overall a cozy and comfortable place to spend a week.

Beautiful location. Fair property.
At $400/night we expected more. Lighting was poor throughout the house. In particular, it was dangerous getting from the bedroom to the bathroom at night because of inadequate stairwell lighting. There was no side table on one side of the bed. The outdoor barbecue was not maintained and needs to be replaced. On the positive side, the kitchen was well stocked and the hot tub was fabulous.

Cozy Cabin, Some Issues
We enjoyed staying at this little walk-up cabin. A true Sea Ranch experience. Cute functional retro kitchen, huge skylights above the bed, beautiful views from the deck. Unfortunately, we got unlucky with some of the amenities: a filter issue prevented hot tub use, outlets for the tv and wifi were out, and the water heater was down. We spent parts of our trip corresponding with management and they were friendly and pretty responsive. Someone came to fix the outlets and water heater by the next day. We stayed multiple nights so the overall experience was still positive despite the temporary issues.

Beautiful spot!
This was our first visit to Sea Ranch and we loved everything about it. The cabin was perfect. A constant view of the ocean while surrounded by trees was delightful. We loved the natural light and windows all around inside the cabin. Laying under the large sky windows at night we enjoyed star gazing one night, and the sound of rain the next! We really liked the cabin layout — a small cabin with excellent use of space. The two of us were very cozy without feeling cramped. We enjoyed hiking along various beach paths, with many options from 5-15 minute drives from the cabin. We would definitely come back to Sea Ranch and this sweet cabin.

Sea Ranch is beautiful!
We had the most amazing view. The hot tub was nice to have and I don’t think all the locations have them. We would love to come back. The area is perfect for hiking, wineries and beaches. We didn’t have the ability to do everything we would have liked. For the house, since there is no dishwasher, it would have been nice to have more kitchen towels. We had to use bathroom towels to do the dishes, but at least we had enough. And having beach towels for the hot tub was nice to have as well. The refrigerator in our unit seems to be going out. It made some pretty loud noises at times. Other than that the place was perfect! We loved it and hope to be able to come back sometime.

Our cabin stay in Sea Ranch
Definitely a cozy cabin in the woods with beautiful views of the ocean and stars at night. The charm inside and out is unforgettable. There are cleanliness issues that need attention. It is time for a deep clean and attention to the hard to reach places. ie.: The inside of the bathroom door is so dirty you almost don't want to touch it. At the corners of the shower doors some good old fashion bleach is needed. The spice shelves are loaded with spilled spices and the spice bottles are grimy. The white futon couch needs to be cleaned or the pillow/ cushion replaced. The hurricane shade kept on the kitchen table needs cleaned. It is very grimy. With a good deep clean this place could be great!

Good, rustic, cottage at Sea Ranch
Everything described in the listing is accurate. A couple of additions: 1. Bathroom is downstairs from master bedroom (you can figure this out from the on-line tour, but just to be explicit about it.) If you have to use the bathroom in the middle of the night you have to navigate up and down the narrow stair case. Just be advised. 2. There is a propane bbq. o the porch. It was pretty grimy so I had to clean it before using. 3. There are some great hiking trails in the redwoods behind the cottage. Start out at the trailhead marked 113. Unfortunately, I could find no trail map and did get a little lost on a few occasions.

Perfect getaway
In a forest on a hill with a view of the sea, and to top it all, a beautifully designed cabin! Only area of improvement is that because the cabin does not have a dishwasher, the utensils may not have been properly cleaned by the previous guests. The oven also could be cleaner. Otherwise this place is a real gem.

In the woods
Its very unusual to have an experience of being in the woods and have an ocean view at the same time. The architecture is unique with huge skylights above the bed. The bed was the most comfortable one I have ever been in. Not having cars around was fantastic. Note the check in place is about 5 miles away in Gualala, and you do park your car about 5 minutes away down the road. This property might be difficult for anyone in advanced age. We are 74 years old, and managing all of it was borderline difficult for us.

Nice view, but...
The cabin is nested in a woody area with a nice view of the ocean through few trees. The pictures on VRBO showed the cabin much bigger that what it is. It’s a nice cabin for a family of 4. The bunk beds are small and climbing to the top one was challenge even for my 10 years old. Getting to the cabin was my biggest challenge. The listing stated that there was a short walk to the cabin. It was more of a steep climb than a short walk. I had a Knee operation couple of month ago and climbing the rough road to the cabin after a rainy day was painful. Guests can drive up to the cabin to drop off things, but parking near the cabin is prohibited and security will not be reluctant to issue citations. The rough road to the cabin was so steep that part of my car fender got detached after scraping the floor trying to get up to drop off our bags. Guests are instructed to park their cars at the bottom of the hill and walk up to the cabin. We booked two night and left after one night. The idea of climbing up the road at nigh got scary after the owners of next door cabin told us about their sighting of a mountain lion. The property manager was very nice and offered to drive me up the hill when needed. She was very understanding of my situation, but did not have many options. If you are older or with a bad back or knees, this is not the cabin for you, otherwise it is a great place to stay. My advice to the owners, change the listing from “short walk to the cabin” to “short 300 yards climb”.

stunning view of Pacific Ocean
Besides the spectacular views, the cabin could not have been nicer. The Loft has a huge skylight with retractable shades. The bed linens are very comfortable. Our 10 year old loved the two twin beds in the stair well. The rental agency could not have been nicer and more accommodating. We had to request a late check-out because of a visit to the emergency room, which incidentally was a far better experience than going to Cedars-Sinai. The staff at the hospital were responsive, compassionate and very nice.

Great Place!... Just be aware of check in details.
The cabin is really nice, has pretty much everything you need. It's clean and comfortable. The only problem we had was the check in. We booked on VRBO and received a confirmation email right after. The email says the booking is confirmed and has some basic details along with a manage reservation button, looks like any other email you receive from a booking site. Assumed we'd show up and check in at a main office or that a manager would be on site but there isn't one and no management around. There's no phone signal within an hr of the area and we got in at 5:15pm when it was pitch black. Luckily a neighbor was outside and let us use his landline phone in his room. I called Vacasa for the key details and they said we didn't agree to the booking terms even tho we have a confirmation email. Had to connect to the neighbors wifi & go thru some steps online to agree to the terms and then the operator was able to give us the lockbox code to get the key. There was no where in the confirmation email that stated we needed to take additional steps and agree to additional terms...We would have been stuck if that neighbor wasn't around. You also need to pick up parking passes from an office that is a 10 minute drive away which was closed when we arrived so they had to make a call to the ranger to make sure we didn't get a ticket. The next day while picking up the parking passes, I explained to the lady at the Vacasa office our check in experience and she said that other people have had the same problem but for some reason it's usually people who book on Airbnb. Just be aware that you need to get all of the check in info before you arrive or you could be stuck.

Very nice. lovely spot, comfortable and clean
We enjoyed the cabin, it was quite beautiful inside and well-furnished, comfortable couches and bed, very quiet. Nice view of ocean except for smoke from Paradise area fire which obscured the view... It would have been helpful to have instructions for complicated microwave besides which buttons NOT to use and for coffee maker. And although guest booklet said we could use our own Netflix account, there was no way we could figure to bypass owner account -- it would have been nice to get the password! Might also recommend a regular DVD since Blu-Ray is not really standard so we could not use the DVD we brought. However, a nice selection of games to make up for lack of television or Netflix.
