We were there celebrating my daughter’s 21st birthday, as it was a convenient distance from her college campus, and the staff went out of their way to make sure that her day was memorable. The restaurant was great, and the breakfast was good, which is not always the case with free hotel breakfasts. Would definitely stay here again.

The Independence Hotel is an upscale hotel walkable to Independence’s historic downtown. It sits right on the river walk and has great fires from the rooms along the back and the rooftop viewing lounge. The breakfast was plentiful, varied, and delicious. I also enjoyed a glass of local wine in the bar/restaurant and although I didn’t order food, what I saw on the menu and on other tables looked yummy. I appreciate all the sustainable features and commitment to reducing plastic waste and disposables. My daughter goes to college nearby and I will definitely return to The Independence on future visits.
