If you are more of an outdoors adventure seeking family, you will love the opportunity to go to Cades Cove and spend the day doing simple to moderate hikes (take water with you) or just drive through and stop along the way for the beautiful views and the chance to see bears and other wildlife. The National Park is also close by as is Greenbrier State Park in Gatlinburg. You can go to Ober Gatlinburg any time of year to ice skate, shop and just see the beauty of the mountain – it’s a fun drive up even if you don’t do anything else there. During the winter, you can ski, snow tube and ski skate among other winter activities.
