Unpretentious unit is a good value for the money
This unit is decidedly unpretentious but perfectly adequate if you are on a budget. It's older and serviceable, but lacks some amenities that would have been handy.
For one thing, there's no dishwasher, and there's only one sink. This makes it a bit of a challenge to do dishes, but not an insurmountable one.
For another, there's no laundry facility in the unit, and no central facility within the complex. You have to go to a laundromat to do your laundry. This was actually the biggest drawback for me.
There's no view, as it is a ground-floor unit with a stairwell in front of the one front-facing window in the living room area. That's a drawback if you like a view with lots of sunlight. It's an advantage in the sense that Palm Springs can get really hot, and this unit is always shaded. I actually liked that.
The pool is actually pretty nice, with some areas exposed to direct sunlight and some shaded by trees or buildings within the complex. Also, there are two pools. One big one with water temperature governed by external conditions, and a small one that's heated, though not excessively.
Except as noted above, it's pretty well-equipped, with a widescreen TV and a cable/satellite box (don't remember which) in the living room and another in the bedroom. The wi-fi was fast and worked well, except for one outage that may have been connected with the PG&E power shutdowns because of the wildfire risk around Oct. 10, 2019.
The maintenance response wasn't all it might have been. The last day or two I was there, the only light fixture in the bathroom went out. I called the appropriate numbers and left two voicemails, but got no response as of the time I checked out. My workaround was to move in a floor lamp I found in the dining area. Lucky the power outlet in the bathroom continued to work despite the failure of the light fixture.
In conclusion, let me say again that this unit is a good value for the money. I was there to work, part of which involved getting out and about as much as possible. And, when I was in the unit, I was doing the computer part of my work. So I didn't mind that it was so unpretentious. I just needed a place to 'camp' while I was in PS for a month on a work mission.
So, yes, I'd stay there again, though I would try to get clear going in as to how maintenance issues are supposed to be dealt with.
