I needed to arrive very late from my 12 hour trip. They waited for me and told me not to rush and drive safely. When I arrived they were very friendly. Highly recommend.

The motel is a quaint, rustic, very well kept, north-woods property a few miles west of Ontonagon, MI. It is run by a couple who are welcoming and helpful. This is how rural vacation hotels used to be 50 years ago. The very clean rooms are in good condition and contain all the amenities such as mini-frig, microwave, and wifi.

The couple that own this place are very nice and informative. The room was cozy, clean and the bed comfortable. I would definitely recommend it to family and friends

Lovely room. Owners were super nice. Convenient to Porcupine Mountains state park. May come back and stay in one of the cottages in the future.

This is a nice, clean property and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. It has new HVAC units which we did not use. It needs more light in the bedroom and an electrical outlet in the bath. The bath fan starts on when the light is turned on and is VERY LOUD which is a problem during the night.

Good news and bad news about this place. Bad news…place welcomes pets and therefore the rooms have a distinct urine odor—we had two rooms and both were affected. Also, sheets and bedding are over-laundered, so if you’re bothered by strong laundry scents that’s a problem. If you can get past those things, the good news is the grounds are beautifully kept and there’s beach access to a vast amount of beach walking along the lake.

Great place! My husband and I were traveling for our anniversary. We've never been here before, but the owners were so nice it felt like we were staying with friends. (The owner actually sat around the campfire and chatted with the guests). Lake Superior access is across the road. The road wasn't busy when we were there so it was quick and easy to cross, and SO worth it! The beach was quiet and beautiful, and watching the sunset there over lake superior was amazing. Our queen room was quaint and comfortable with an old log cabin feel and an eagle theme. My only complaint would be that the bathroom in our room was kind of small, but at least it had a bathroom so I can't complain too much about that. :-) We will definitely be back with our kids to try out one of their cabins.

Magical little place in the middle of so many outdoor adventures! From beaches, waterfalls, lakes, bears and northern lights....you won't be disappointed. The owners and townspeople are the kindest you will meet. Sunshine motel was quiet, clean and quaint, we will be back.

I really liked the grounds around the motel for my dog. There was also a trail to the beach that was charming. I had a kitchenette room which was very convenient.

DELIGHTFUL! after spending 5 nights in noisy/lighted campgrounds this place was a respite. from wonderful owners to the clean,beautiful updated room. would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area

Beautiful beach with easy access from hotel. Owners were extremely friendly. Made a bonfire and joined a bunch of us for friendly conversation. Even suppled bug spray for us for the few mosquitos. Wo derful couple running the motel

Unbelievably clean and very well taken care of. An absolute gem. Excellent outdoor space with a short walk to the beach. We will absolutely stay here again on our next trip to the area.
