Dancing Bears Cabin | Breathtaking Sunrise Mountain Views!

Recharge with breathtaking views from the back deck of Dancing Bears Cabin, nestled on a tranquil and spacious 6-acre property in the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains. Wake up to stunning sunrises over rolling peaks, as this mountainside log cabin reveals a new horizon masterpiece with each season. Located within Gateway Mountain, a 3,000-acre nature preserve and gated community, this charming 3-bedroom, 2-bath log cabin is perfect for family gatherings, friend reunions, or a romantic getaway.

Spend your evenings roasting s'mores over the fire pit (wood included) under a starlit sky, or cozy up inside by the crackling fireplace. Fire up the charcoal grill for a delicious barbecue and dine al fresco with the mountains as your backdrop. Explore the natural beauty of Gateway Mountain, with two pristine lakes, a trout pond for catch-and-release fishing (no license required), a picturesque waterfall park, hiking trails, picnic areas, and abundant wildlife. Indoors, enjoy games, music, and movies via DVDs and an extensive satellite channel selection. Work remotely with ease using the fast Starlink Wi-Fi and dedicated workstation. The fully-stocked kitchen and local artwork will make you feel right at home.

For nearby adventures, Dancing Bears Cabin is conveniently located close to Gateway Mountain's main entrance, just 10 minutes off I-40. Western North Carolina's top attractions are within easy reach: Black Mountain, Asheville, and the Blue Ridge Parkway are a short 30 to 45-minute drive, while Lake Lure and Chimney Rock are just 30 minutes away.

Experience the unique charm of this custom log cabin, constructed entirely from natural materials, with no sheetrock, paint, or carpet. Your perfect mountain retreat awaits at Dancing Bears Cabin!

Please note: During the colder winter months (from December through March), icy and/or snowy road conditions and delayed snow plow operations are possible within the development. We strongly recommend AWD or 4WD vehicles and travel insurance throughout the year, but especially for those staying in the Gateway Mountain development during the winter months.

No parking is allowed on roadways or at gate entrances. No RVs, boat trailers, camping trailers, or trailers of any kind are permitted in the Gateway Mountain Community. The driveway is steep but paved, and plenty of parking is available at the cabin.
During your stay at this cabin, you'll be close to Waterfall Park. The cabin includes amenities such as free WiFi and a kitchen.

The little things matter
The house was beautiful but not up to the normal level we always find with Verbo properties. It was the small things we found annoying and not renter friendly. No ice maker or even ice trays, no fitted sheets- which made our sleeping experiences horrible!, the paper products were very substandard so much that we went to town and bought our own toilet paper and paper towels, along with an 8.00 bag of ice! It would have been nice to have had a few comfortable chairs by the fire pit too. And the popcorn left for us was stale and out of date! Where were the coffee filters? Again, it’s the little things that matter and make for a positive experience! Not sure we’ll ever rent a Greybeard property again.

Dancing Bears - Old Fort
The cabin was great! It was a little remote but was easy to access. Beautiful views, quiet evenings and mornings with just the occasional noise of cars leaving the community. Initially the entry code did not work. It took several tries and about 10 minutes and suddenly the lock took the code and everything was fine. The town of Old Fort was cute but was very small and really had only one restaurant for dinner, Hillman Beer! It was fabulous! We brought our own hummingbird feeder and they found it quickly. We enjoyed watching them come while sitting in the deck. We were sure to bring it in whenever we left the cabin so it didn’t entice the bears and other wildlife to venture close to the cabin. The towns of Marion and Black Mountain were very close and both had cute shops and good restaurants. As long as you don’t mind curvy mountain roads and having a lot of piece and quiet, you’ll enjoy your stay at this cabin!

Dancing Bears Cabin
Compact but perfect for our family of five, beautiful setting with long range Mountain views - and we actually saw 2 bears entering the woods beyond the fence next to the property, they were not dancing but seemed very content!

Labor Day retreat
Great time at Dancing Bears cabin in Old Fort NC. Location and cabin were perfect for our long weekend. The cabin is spacious and well appointed. Not recommended if icy roads could be a factor due to driveway slope. But views are spectacular and we even saw a black bear across the fence!! Recommended for all.

Beautiful view
A lot of instructions at check-in but it’s understandable because it’s in a beautiful and quiet gated community. The house is neat and has great decor but housekeeping could do a better job cleaning toilets and making sure the sheets are clean, considering the cleaning fee. It has a lot of beds and can accommodate a very big family. There are very little essentials provided. You have to go to the nearby grocery store to buy dish soap, toilet paper, paper towels, garbage bags, etc. if you don’t bring it with you. Other than that you have pretty much anything you need. You also can’t leave any trash outside because of wildlife. We stayed several nights and had to go to the community dumpsters to dump our trash and still left more trash than we would’ve liked at checkout. Also the driveway is super steep and you can’t tell from the pictures. The only downside for us, a family with children, was that there wasn’t any outdoor space where the kids could play freely, the landscape is reduced because it’s so high up on the mountain and the only flat space led to the dangerously steep driveway.

Cozy, sleeps large family comfortably
Overall, the cabin is very cozy, has a spectacular view at top of mountain and sleeps a large family comfortably. Lots of beds and options for kids to sleep. There is a fireplace outside perfect for making s’mores! While the cabin has everything you need, there is some TLC needed for sure. Kitchen could use sprucing up with updated tools and items, bedding/sheets and towels could also use an overhaul. I think the property could use a significant deep clean with some extra care in areas like bathrooms that may have been sitting for some time. Otherwise, everything was simple and easy to use, our family had a nice vacation, it is relatively close to Black Mountain, but a bit far out from Asheville.

Well appointed, large, private
Dancing Bears cabin is a wonderful place to stay. So quiet, beautifully appointed and equipped, and pride of ownership evident. Very relaxing and welcoming, with lots of items to make you comfortable. Overall, fantastic! Only negatives are the nasty steep driveway (although paved); and geriatric, near-death washing machine in need of replacing. But those are minor (or fixable) imperfections in a truly wonderful, spacious place to stay with an awesome waterfall in a private, gated community. Highly recommended!

Great for a 4-person family
Loved this property! We were unsure of 2 things when we booked: 1) Is this private? 2) Does it have nice mountain views? The answer to both: YES!! This property was great! Perfect place for our 4-person family. 100% private. You can't see another house or even the road. Well equipped, really nice great room. The back porch and view were incredible. There's even a great place to keep your bikes and keep them dry.

Great place for a family stay! Definitely check out the waterfall park within Gateway. Amazing! Ample space for our small family. The only constructive feedback is related to the charcoal grills, which are in need of repair. Overall great stay!

Overall our stay was great. We felt the list of instructions/chores we had to complete before leaving was a little much (especially since they charge a large cleaning fee) but the house was nice and had beautiful views.

Perfect views, perfect location
The cabin was well maintained and clean. Only 10 minutes from Old Fort and we were within 30 minutes of everything on our vacation agenda...Chimney Rock, Black Mountain, Catawba Falls, horse back riding, and of course more hiking (definitely check out Montreat’s 2 mile hike to the top of Lookout)!

Relaxing disconnect
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin was clean and spacious. The community was quiet and just far enough off the main beat that we could disconnect and regroup but not too far for us to ride out and access recreational activities. We even got snow which was the icing on the cake. We would like to come back when it's warmer and we can get out and do more.

Nothing short of Amazing!
Everything about our week long stay here was fantastic. Mybhusband and I were here on our honeymoon. The cabin is located convienently to multiple towns for shopping, hiking, dining, etc....not to mention the views!!! Sitting on the deck drinking my morning coffee was the best part about the entire stay! Communications with the rental group went really well and check in and out were the smoothest processes. We will be back for sure!
