We’d love to have you be our guests at the newly remodeled & enhanced WALNUT SPRINGS!

Whether this will be your first stay, or you have enjoyed an earlier stay with us at WALNUT SPRINGS, you are bound to love our new remodel & enhanced look of our property. We have an all-new floor underlayment with new luxury vinyl wood planking installed over the entire first floor. All the walls & ceilings have been newly painted. We have updated & upgraded much of our furniture & furnishings including A new “Barrel room” with an authentic Bowman Distilleries Barrel, customized with a wood & glass top. We have upgraded from a single A/C system & heat system to a new portable heat pump in the dining area that cools & heats the entire house.  So, you can sit here in comfort enjoying the beautiful views & or animals along with your favorite beverage, while enjoying your company or having some laptop work. In the kitchen, we have several new amenities, new cooking pots & pans, 3 different coffee systems for your perfect coffee needs, a new mid-century style toaster & a new mid-century modern styled microwave too! Our back deck has a new BBQ. & on our front porch 2 luxurious Thomasville outdoor rockers, just for your enjoyment.  For your chilly evenings a luxury SOLO smokeless outdoor wood-burning firepit for you to use during your stay. So, whether you come to Walnut Springs for a remote getaway on over 11 private acres to enjoy a quiet, relaxing getaway, or come to enjoy the many local wineries, and natural & historic attractions, we know you’ll enjoy your stay here. Our house sits at the base of the Massanutten Mountain Range in the Shenandoah Valley, Here you’ll enjoy over 11 acres of private land with approximately 2/3 of an acre of lawn, gardens, 3 large Walnut trees that bear lots of walnuts in season (that you may gather & bring home if you’d like), wild native Raspberry bushes, (they usually can be picked in late June & early July) & several natural springs that are around our house & property ending up together running down along the drive most of the year. As well as many other natural native plants that surround you at Walnut Springs.  Then the read more break if you use that or continue for more information. We are surrounded by 100’s of private wooded acres that border the George Washington National Forest. While you may feel in complete solitude, you are only 2 miles from the heart of New Market and Route 81 and less than 1/2 mile off Route 211. The house was built in 1927 and we renovated it with modern appliances and furnishings. We kept its original charm with exposed hand-cut beams and timbers, stone stairs on the front porch, and original rolled glass in many windows. While at Walnut Springs you can relax in an overstuffed leather chair, or rocking chair with your favorite book, or watch a video on the SAMSUNG UHD Smart TV. Both TVs can be connected via Wi-Fi, HDMI cable to your laptop, smartphone, or other internet connection device you bring. This allows you to use your portable TV viewing connection & use our Smart TV’s apps to connect through your hot spot or cable access. Our UHD TVs are pre-installed with all the major apps with access to 1000’s of movies, and additional shows. Instructions are on the property for reference. The second TV is located upstairs in the bedroom. While you relax in the living room or bedroom, sit on the sofa in front of the gas fireplace, sit out on the screened-in front porch and watch the purple mountains' majesty of the sunset, look for wildlife, or fall asleep listening to the birds and cascading stream. We think you'll enjoy the quiet solitude, wineries, or multiple nearby attractions surrounding Walnut Springs. Book early to ensure your special dates.

Luray Caverns is 11 miles away, The George Washington National Forest Storybook Trail is 3 miles away, The Thornton Gap entrance to the Shenandoah National Park is 21 miles away, and Massanutten Resort is 25 miles away. New Market Community pool is 2 miles away.

Gorgeous location, some issues with the pipes in the cold
The location and cabin were charming and as described. Small hiccup with cabin manager and owners around our arrival time, but they were overall very kind and checkin was smooth. We woke up on our second morning without running water (or working toilet). Turned out to be frozen pipes and lasted for about 12 hours on one day of our trip. Management company responded to our phone calls about it but did not do much (maybe couldn’t do much?). Would have appreciated an indication that they would refunded or discounted if water didn’t start again, but fortunately it didn’t come to that.

Lots of Peace, Quiet, and Walnuts!
Walnut Springs was a little hard to find at first with our GPS, but the directions that the Knudsons sent us were easy to follow and took us right to the house. The driveway is tree-lined and a little rough - in fact, at one point during our stay, we began to go down the drive to leave the property only to discover that a tree had fallen across it. Fortunately, the tree wasn't very big in diameter and we were able to move it off to the side without assistance. Also, we visited at a time of the year when all of the walnuts for which the property is named were falling to the ground, so that provided some entertainment (Was that a gunshot?! No, just a walnut). But despite those little quirks, the house was really nice and cozy, and we enjoyed the peace and seclusion. There were instructions and signs posted for things that may be unfamiliar. Everything was in working order. We did discover that we only had limited data service from the second floor of the house and none on the first floor, but we had already been prepared to be without internet, so it didn't bother us. All in all, we had a wonderful time and would definitely consider staying at Walnut Springs again. Thank you Bob and Andrea!

It was great as we stayed each day.
We came in at night and the drive to the cabin one had to be careful. No problem with path but first time one needs to see in sunshine. Peaceful, clean, and relaxing are the best adjectives. The occasional walnut that hits the roof is awakening. Will be back.

Great central location for hiking at Shenandoah
We rented for 5 nights for a family hiking trip in Shenandoah Park. Great location for a 20min ride to get to park. Cute town with good home cooking restaurants. House is well stocked and had what we needed for our stay. Quiet and scenic property. Drive way is very long and should be taken slow. Overall we had a great trip

Home away from home
This property is everything that is listed! It was a cute little home nestled in the woods. We were eager to see some wildlife but only saw a little bird that liked to visit us on the front porch. It’s a nice little home, clean, and not too far away from New Market. Thank you for letting us stay here!

July 4th Getaway
We were looking for a quiet getaway for the 4th of July. This was perfect. Very quiet and away from the crowds but close enough to any attractions we were interested in seeing. House was just the perfect size for 2, kitchen stocked sufficiently, very clean, bed comfortable, and owner very helpful replying to any questions in a timely manner. Good hot water but pressure a bit light. Only downside- no WIFI- but did have cell service. Would definitely stay again and share with friends. Thanks!!

Great seclusion
This was the perfect retreat that allowed us to escape down a quarter mile long driveway abutting a stream to a property with a beautiful yard beautiful yard. The only things we could’ve wanted for were a an antenna to get local TV channels. The property manager was very communicative and provide a clear directions on how to get in and out of the property.

Weekend getaway
Excellent experience from booking to check out. As soon as my reservation was confirmed I was contacted by Bob. He wanted to make sure I would be able to access the property due to recent ice and snow, asking what type of vehicle I would be driving to the property. He even sent someone out the same day we were scheduled to arrive to make sure the driveway was still passable after having another light snow. He knew I was arriving late to the property and he had the house toasty warm with lights on for our arrival. My daughter and I had a relaxing quiet weekend in a very cozy and comfortable house. Thank you!

Lovely getaway, would return
Very cute house, full of homey touches and has a warm vibe. The house was clean and the property is well-kept. Kitchen is stocked well, but you'll need to bring your own basics (oil, plastic bags/storage containers, tin foil, etc.). We really enjoyed walking the property with our dogs, who had a great time playing in the leaves and running around the spacious lawn. The house is pretty close to the major attractions in the area and a nearby town that has nice shops and a grocery store. The house is tucked away so you feel surrounded by nature, but it is conveniently located at the same time. The only thing to keep in mind, and this wasn't an issue for us whatsoever, is that there is only (1) bedroom and (1) bathroom. I could see it being a tight fit for a family with older children. For us and our (2) dogs, this was a perfect getaway.

Nice property
We were completely satisfied with our stay at Walnut Springs. Kitchen was well stocked and everything worked. Furniture was more comfortable than most places we've stayed. We really enjoyed the privacy of the property. The only minor complaint applies to hot, humid weather. The portable AC unit and dehumidifier kept things comfortable but combined, the two units were loud.

Amazing
Everything was beautiful and perfect. I never left the property for long. It was too peaceful. The only problem I had was my gps lead me up a mountain on a gravel road. Turned around and followed the directions that were provided and found it instantly. I will definitely be staying again
