Location location
Great location and the home is better than pictures on listing. The ambiance was terrific! Stars, hot tub, and hummingbirds were fantastic! Lots of outdoor things to do on the property if you just want to stay home. Gurgling river puts you to sleep! Trails and hot springs close by, and only 20 mins from BV. One caveat, master bedroom is not air conditioned like rest of the house, but really didn’t need it as open windows and fans kept us plenty cool. The few issues we had were resolved quickly. Hosts are very, very kind and accommodating. They even lent us their own personal chairs for fishing! Enjoyed our stay!

Nice place in a great location
The listing accurately reflects the rental. It is in a great location and we enjoyed the hot tub alongside the creek. One thing to note - I would say this place is less pet friendly and more pet tolerable. They block off the master bedroom saying pets are not allowed in it, which is a bummer if you have your pet sleep in the same room. They also require you to cover all furniture if you bring pets but do not provide sheets to do so. And they require you to vacuum before departing despite making you pay both a cleaning fee and a pet fee.

A piece of Heaven!
Diane and I highly recommend this property. From the owners, Brent & Diana to the beautiful location nestled between 2 mountain ranges to the abundance of wildlife to the comfortable cabin. We travel Wyoming, Montana & Idaho several times a year but this trip was our favorite. Surrounded by beautiful mountains no matter where you travel around the area. Wildlife!!! Mule deer, antelope and elk galore. It starts with drinking coffee or your adult beverage on the porch and the local mule deer will definitely invite themselves to the party. Only feet away from you, presenting awesome opportunities for close up picture. If you want unmatched beauty that will provide plenty of rest, please contact Brent & Diana! Truly, our best vacation yet. JR & Diane

This is the second time we have stayed here. It is a great location, appreciate the nice beds, and comfy. Love the stream that runs behind it. sounds amazing through the night. The couple that run the location have always been so nice and helpful. Also, plenty of space to have our trailer and truck and also turn around.

Cool get a way
It was great to get away from the Texas heat! We loved the patio and our guests the hummingbirds and the beauty of the mountains and forest. We spotted twin fawn with mom and dad mule deer. The house was quite comfortable and spacious. The kitchen could use more bake ware for casseroles and plastic containers with lids for leftovers. This is our 4th time in the Buena Vista area and it always is a memorable trip. Thank you for sharing this home!

Cute Little Home
The home is charming and the location is great if you want to stay close to St Elmo or the hot springs! A few things you might want to bring, extra towels, they provided one towel per person and a hand towel per bathroom. If you plan to bake anything in a baking dish, you might grab a disposable when you get groceries. Overall, great stay!

Ultimate getaway
First of all, Brent and Diana are awesome managers, Fantastic cabin, great location, felt like home without all the stress, we will be back. Me, my wife and dog had a wonderful time exploring the mountain trails, hiking and off-roading, that are just right up the road. Tons of activities in nearby Buena Vista and Silida. A great week we will never forget. And I cant say enough how truly relaxing our stay was!

Nice location, house leaves a lot to be desired
We got to the house and explored the rooms. The house is booked as a three bedroom, but when we went to the third bedroom in the basement, we were struck by an incredibly strong musty smell. No one wanted to sleep down there, so we had to share the two upstairs bedrooms. The mattress in the master bedroom was okay, but the mattress in the spare bedroom was rock hard. These issues would have been somewhat acceptable if it hadn't been for the very high price we paid. With the amount we spent, we were expecting a clean, pleasant smelling house and comfortable beds. We talked to the renter about the smell in the basement and she said "it's a basement." I've been in many basements, and the smell in the basement of this house is extraordinarily bad.

Wonderful Creekside Retreat
We absolutely loved staying at the cabin. The location cannot be beat! Surrounded by tall trees, set off from the road by a large tree-filled meadow, and right along the banks of Chalk Creek—who could ask for more? We enjoyed sitting on the zero gravity chairs on the back deck, eating at the picnic table on the deck, roasting marshmallows at the firepit, and sipping our morning coffee on the front porch while deer walked by. We even saw a heard of mountain goats (including babies!) come to drink from the creek! Inside the cabin is just as lovely. Everything was super clean and it contains everything you could possibly need from a well-stocked kitchen to plenty of towels, pillows and blankets. We will definitely be returning!

Very Relaxing
The area was close and convenient to Buena Vista and Salida but far enough away to not be bothered with the hustle/bustle. The home is very comfortable and plenty of room for the family. We had 2 adults and 3 teens, there was plenty of room. Morning coffee and multiple meals on the back deck with the creek 20 yards away, horseshoe pit and fire pit provided much of the relaxing experience. Wood was cut, stacked and prepped for out and indoor fire places, all we had to do was light it. There were frequent visits from deer and mountain goats by the water and each evening 10-20 would gather in the meadow across the street. Hot springs, lots of hiking and a couple of ghost towns near by, all accessible without a 4x4 vehicle. Also, plenty of off-road 4x4 options very close by. A lot to do and a great place to relax afterwards.

Wonderful relaxing and beautiful!
This property is wonderful. We needed a get away and it provided everything we needed. It is big enough for a big family and we only used 1/2 the space. Diane and Brent were attentive and easily contacted. They answered any question promptly. The surrounding is beautiful with a stream right out the back door. There is not many places that you can watch 8 deer graze while you are cleaning up after a meal, or sit outside by the fire and watch as the sun goes behind a mountain range all the while listening to the brook right next to you.. The house seems somewhat newly built. There is a soaking tub and spacious master bedroom. The house is so well equipped! It has washer and dryer, full kitchen with the amenities of home. We mostly stayed in front of the fireplace inside or outside by the wood stove looking at the beautiful mountains out the back door. There are hiking trails about a mile west of the house that we enjoyed with easy trails. Both Buena Vista and Salida are close enough to find great places to shop and eat. We ate at delicious meal at Shallots one night and wanted to return on Sunday but they were closed. We honestly want to return as soon as possible.
