The hotel is in dire need of modernization and better maintenance. The facilities are outdated, and my experience was riddled with inconveniences. The sliding glass door in my room didn’t function, which was frustrating, and to make matters worse, I couldn’t reach room service for three consecutive days. This forced me to rely on Doordash for meals. On the one occasion I did manage to get late-night room service, the salad delivered to my room was rotten, which was completely unacceptable. That said, the one highlight of my stay was the spa, which provided an excellent and relaxing experience. The staff there were professional and attentive, and the services exceeded my expectations, offering a much-needed reprieve from the disappointments elsewhere in the hotel. While the spa's quality was impressive, it didn’t compensate for the overall lack of functionality and service in other areas of the property. With proper updates to its facilities and significant improvements in customer service, this hotel could potentially offer a much better guest experience. As it stands, I would not recommend it unless you plan to solely take advantage of the spa and are prepared to deal with outdated amenities and unreliable services.

This property doesn’t have power generators for back up. it was difficult stay and we have to move out of the hotel in middle of the night as it was cold and no air flow due to power cut. Staff was rude and unhelpful with this powercut situation. They didn’t provided an update on power cut and asked us to check with PGE at regular basis.

Kind of “underwhelmed”
Let’s start with the positives: first, it was in Monterey. Need I say more? One of the most storied beach communities on the planet. Second the view from my room (when I finally got the room I had reserved) was breathtaking as I looked onto the 16th tee at their prestigious golf course near a hundred plus year old cypress tree. Third, great hot water pressure and an inviting walk in shower with lovely amenities. Now for the negatives: the aforementioned balcony room. One of my creature comforts when traveling is the opportunity to have the benefit of a patio or balcony where I can get a breath of fresh air. This did not happen and it took me nearly an hour to get it resolved with little to no remorse or empathy for the obvious mistake. Next was the bed. Rock hard like the proverbial pool table. Not a good start to a good nights’ sleep. The floor was softer. Then there was the location of the room itself. It took a Sherpa and a trail of breadcrumbs to find it…..yikes!

The staff tried to help us as best as they could by waiving resort fees, but the property needed substantial renovation. Our room had two Queen beds, both of which were uncomfortable due to old/worn mattresses. The bedding added to the discomfort as it kept coming off bed while we were sleeping. There was also limited availability of rooms with patio despite our extra room rates. As regular Monterey visitors, we're likely never going back to Hyatt.

Nice Time in Monterey
Wonderful staff and amenities. As others have stated, the property is dated and some of the building you can hear traffic from. Our bathroom was small for a family of 4 (no tub or counter space) and the vent could use a cleaning. Otherwise the room itself was pretty standard, but comfortable and clean. The restaurant was fantastic, we enjoyed the breakfast buffet. And the games, pools, and fire pits were enjoyed by us all. The golf course looks beautiful and the gym/spa was very nice. And an easy drive to everything we wanted to see and do.

Wish we had discovered this gem earlier as we have frequented Monterey for years. Comfortable resort, safe, wonderful staff - we loved staying at this Hyatt. Breakfast was delicious and hearty with wide selection - juicer was the hit for our family! We also brought our dog and she loved the amount of walking we could do to keep her busy. There was lots organized for kids and families - we were very impressed with this place. Highly recommend it!
