Huckleberry Hideaway: Authentic Cabin Adventure, steps away from Payette Lake

Adventure awaits you at this classic McCall “knotty pine” cabin - only steps away from Payette Lake and located on a quiet wooded lane. If you are looking to boat, sunbath, hike, bike, ATV, ski, snowmobile, snowshoe or soak in a hot spring, you will be within minutes of it all!

In the summer months, wake up, grab your coffee, book and maybe a fishing pole and enjoy the sunrise at pristine “Picnic Point” beach just a short walk from your front door and overlooking the spectacular McCall mountain surroundings. For those more active vacationers, grab one of our two kayaks and paddle or fish along Payette Lake’s edge or pedal to McCall just a short bike ride away. The cabin is also just two blocks from a very nice greenbelt for walking, running or riding on. It's generally in the 50s and low 60s at night in the summer and there are screens to let the cool McCall night air in. Both the main house and bunk house have A/C as well.

In the winter, it’s a 5 minute ride into McCall with its’ many winter activities, or, 15 minutes to the amazing powder skiing at Brundage Mountain ski area and just 25 minutes to Idaho’s newest Tamarack resort. McCall gets lots of snow so don't forget to bring your 4 wheel drive AND chains. If snowmobiling is your thing, there is a snowmobile public parking area and trailhead called "Green Gate" a few hundred yards from our front door. Also, explore the beautiful winter surroundings with your kids in tow with the new toddler sled we provide. The main house has a thermostatically controlled gas fireplace/heater, as well as, 2 programmable floor heaters and baseboard heat. The bunk house has a programmable floor heater and baseboard heat. All very effective in keeping things very cozy.

There are two small bedrooms on the top level of the home; one with a queen-size bed, the other with two 80" long super comfy 12" thick foam twin beds. The main level has a large leather couch. For privacy, comfy naps or the kids to hide out in, the 2nd separate bunkhouse has a large leather couch on the lower level and a full size memory foam bed on the 2nd level loft.

The fully-equipped kitchen is stocked with all the pots and pans, dinnerware for 8, and cooking utensils you will need to prepare meals. There is a six-person dining table with three extra stools at the breakfast bar. Cabin and bunkhouse are approximately 900 sq. ft. combined.

Relax and snuggle into the large sofa in the large common area and enjoy the large 50” flat screen TV and high speed internet. The bunk house also has a flat screen TV too! There is also a large rear deck with a BBQ grill, 8 person picnic table and the peaceful solace of the McCall pines to enjoy on our large private lot.

There's also lots of parking for your cars, toys and a trailer.

If dining out is your thing, taste the local fare at 'downtown' restaurants that provide just about anything you might want from fish, steak, sushi, pizza, Mexican, Italian and more, and most, with that uniquely McCall “step into the past” vibe.

You are close to all the popular activities in the McCall area: Fishing and boating on the Payette River and Lake, golfing, hiking in Ponderosa State Park and surrounding national forests, skiing at Brundage Mountain or Tamarack, mountain biking, shopping, dining, brewery-hopping, horseback riding, and much more!

McCall is just 95 miles from Boise at the end of a gorgeous mountain drive along the Payette river rapids. Don’t wait, come enjoy the Huckleberry HideAway experience now!
During your stay at this cabin, you're just a quick walk from Payette Lake. The cabin includes amenities such as free WiFi and a kitchen.

A true hideaway on Payette Lake
The Huckleberry Hideaway is a great small cabin in a wonderful spot on Payette Lake. It is definitely small, but well laid out with a nice living area, dining table and cooking area. This would not be good for anyone with mobility issues, but works well if you can navigate the tight spaces - especially upstairs. We were a family of four and it was a good size for us - it was wonderful to have the small bungalow bedroom as a place for one of our boys to have his own space. The only real challenge we had was the lack of laundry facilities - this would be fine for a few days or a week but anything longer requires a trip to the laundromat which can be a pain. Overall though the beach is very nice and the neighborhood is sweet. A great place for a getaway or a short family vacation.

The Huckleberry Hideaway- Small but Mighty!
While the Huckleberry Hideaway may be small in size it is large in every other way- experience, location, amenities, and comfort! It is in a great location with easy access to a wonderful beach. The downstairs indoor space is amazingly spacious and comfortable. This along with the outdoor areas ( a front porch and large back patio) accommodated our family quite nicely. It was quiet and peaceful with many deer roaming the neighborhood. We are a tall family, so the upstairs bedrooms were a little tight while maneuvering into bed, but the beds were comfortable and the ceiling fans and windows kept it cool even during this heatwave. Jeff, our host, was super responsive with all of our questions. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks for a great week in McCall!

We had a very nice stay at this property, in spite of bad weather almost the entire time we were there. We had a total of 4 people. Two staying in the main house and 2 in the bunkhouse. The owner did not miss any tricks in having the property well equipped and perfect use of all the space available. Everything was in order and clean. It was close in to McCall and various restaurants, shops, etc. We definitely would stay ther again.

Awesome Cabin! Our kids had a blast and we have so many amazing memories from this vacation. The cabin was clean and cozy, and the lake was so close we went kayaking and had a beach picnic everyday! The few neighbors were extremely friendly. Only a couple of very small issues came up during our stay, and Jeff responded to my calls quickly and resolved our issues immediately. What an amazing first experience for our family in McCall. We will be back!!

A frame
The description of how close the lake is a little misleading it’s more like a 4-5 min walk. I didn’t take any stars off because they do provide 2 nice kayaks. No room to hang or unpack your things or place to put. Suitcase.

Lovely Petite Cabin
A lot of care and thought has been put into this lovely little cabin. It's outfitted very well, had very comfortable beds, and enough hot water for a family of 4. I love the little swing chair and picnic table for meals on the back deck. We loved the beach and the kayaks, and all of the neighbors were incredibly friendly! What a charming little cabin! Thank you for a wonderful long weekend in McCall!

We had a great time in the McCall.. The house is beautifully decorated with innovative use of small spaces. Everything is supplied that you need for a great vacation. The spiral stairs were a little tricky coming down in the middle of the night. Beautiful setting. Has everything you need. Lisa and Mark

Cozy spot with easy access to the best of McCall
Very well appointed cabin that made the most of the limited space. Our group of 5 (2 couples and an older teen) made use of the both main cabin and the bunkhouse. We found the sleeping arrangements to be quiet and comfortable. We enjoyed the proximity to the beach, use of the kayaks, and grilling on the deck. The cabin was super clean and all amenities were in excellent condition.

Quaint A-frame near lake
A-frame is exactly as described. Great use of space; however, taller people might have some challenges. Location is wonderful! A 3-4 minute walk to sandy beach where two kayaks are available for use. A friend and I wanted a quick weekend getaway to hike. The area has several nearby hiking trails (short driving distance) & the cabin location was nice to take eve/morning walks. Plenty of kitchen accessories.

Cozy but hot
Nice little cabin and cozy, not a lot of air flow made it quite warm and didn’t find the fan until the last night. Water stopped working on the last day so no showers unfortunately. Communication with property manager was fine although I am used to getting check in info prior to the day of arrival which seemed odd. Overall average experience

Quaint and comfortable
The cabin was set up really well for how tiny it is. We didn’t plan to spend a whole lot of time indoors, so it was perfect for what we needed. The use of the kayaks was super fun for us and our two little kids. We drove about 10 minutes up the road to the Payette river and kayaked the river. It was beautiful and relaxing. Beware of the 25mph speed limit everywhere! My Father’s Place has amazing burgers and milkshakes.
