Waited two hours to get checked in even after arriving at 3PM. They staff were not honest and kept telling us it was “Expedia’s” fault but that was just a lie for them not to take accountability. Specially a front desk clerked calls Ibrahim gave us the run around for hours and then just “left” because his shift was over.

Location, location, location. first day i took an uber to the palace and on my second day took the hopoff and hopon bus and realized that most of the popular tourist attractions were within walking distance of the hotel. I arrived at 9am for a 3 pm check in and the reception went out of their way to get a room ready within the hr. I wasted $ going out for breakfast, to later realize how good the included breakfast was.

First night staying at Riu I got food poisoning for eating a chocolate cake or either the jamon sandwich. Got sick and stuck in the room. On that day asked room service for a soup to help with my stomach and bread. The soup and the bread came in a BOX and cold! McDonald’s would have packed better. I couldn’t believe a hotel like that was serving food in a BOX and plastic silverware. @ over $300 rate this is outrageous!!! Things got worse when I started to feel worse and asked the reception if they could get me a doctor. They said they would transfer me to someone that never answered. I would have gone to the hospital but let the poisoning run its course. Cancelled my reservation for the other 2 days which they still wanted to charge me a penalty but I said I was leaving because they made me sick, so finally they let it go and cancelled w/o penalties (which would have been over $400) anyway… Riu never again…
