The room we stayed in (one of the larger ones) needed better lighting in the kitchen, living room and dining areas and an update in decor throughout. The style and quality did not match that of the photographs on the website.
Also, the website indicated that "small plates" were available in the evening but only snacks like potato chips are offered.
The staff at the inn were not very knowledgeable about things to do in the area. If it is a first-time visit to Lake Tahoe and the surrounding region, advice on the various activities and places to visit would make guests' stay more enjoyable. The restaurants recommended by the inn also need better vetting. We quickly learned that Tahoe is not a foodie destination and better recommendations would have bee appreciated to avoid disappointing dining experiences.
We absolutely loved our room. So cozy, clean, and updated! The fireplace made my morning, every morning. Main lodge is adorable with happy hour and lots of spots to sit and enjoy nature. We loved the location, a bit off the main drag but still incredibly close to all amenities. Would recommend to anyone visiting Tahoe looking for a cozy place to stay!
The patio was extremely dirty with dust and pollen from trees. In my 3 nights stay i didnt sit out on the patio even once because it was dirty. Day one the kettle didnt work, once i got that fixed then day two the microwave stopped working. one of the tv remotes didnt work and there was nothing there for entertainment such as board games or card games. It got super hot at night even with the windows all open, since there isnt any Air Conditioning. And I noticed they offered some others guests complimentary water bottles upon check in but I wasn't offered anything in the three nights i stayed. Almost $1400 for three nights, not sure if thats justified. Maybe half of it.
The grounds of this property are beautiful! Serine, Relaxing, quiet. The staff is friendly and sweet. It's almost like staying with friends. Our room was cozy and cute and the little balcony was perfect for enjoying the rain.
I will most defiantly be returning.
Bri & Sheri were amazing! They were very friendly and helpful. Great property. We felt very safe and extremely comfortable. Rooms and bathrooms were large and very clean! Each room had a little kitchen area that was so helpful. There is NO air conditioning in the rooms.
Definitely would stay here again!!
Beautiful property, rooms are large and comfortable, bathrooms are also large, rooms are very clean, and the little kitchen area in the room is very helpful. There is NO air conditioning.
Bri and Sheri are extremely helpful and so friendly!
We loved our studio cabin at Black Bear Lodge! The cabin was beautiful inside with a luxurious king bed, nicely appointed kitchen, and spacious bathroom with walk-in shower. Outside, we had a nice grassy area under Ponderosa pines to sit in the sun or the shade and enjoy the quiet surroundings. Most days we walked down to the lake to enjoy the beach or take the Tahoe Cruise. There are many attractive restaurants within walking distance, too!
We stayed there for 2 nights to celebrate twins birthday and they made the stay special. Facility is well taken care of (our building is little aged but can tell they take care of it well!) and we loved comfortable unique, special environment of Black Bear Lodge.
Staff are all nice from the beginning when we book the hotel to the end at check out. We can feel they respect their guests to make the stay comfortable and welcomed. They welcomed us with little gifts to twins and also first drink at the bar were on the house. When check out, they gave us snacks. These little considerations are so special these days.
Lodge is close to the beach and walk-able to main places, though you still need car to drive around the lake.
One thing to note is there is no A/C in the room.
We definitely be back but next time would love to try Den Cabin for the family stay!
