The Bears Den - Pet Friendly, Fire Pit, Kayaks!

PET-FRIENDLY ~ FIREPLACE ~ FIREPIT ~ KING BED ~ ROMANTIC ~ KAYAKS

The Bear’s Den is a beautiful log home located in a private community on the east shore of Lake Lure. The peaceful, wooded location is within walking distance of a quiet cove on Lake Lure for fishing or swimming. This destination is sure to spark treasured family memories for years to come. It is easily accessible from the parking area via a ramp, which is wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair. This home is 6.5 miles to the Beach at Lake Lure, 7.9 miles to Chimney Rock State Park, and 18.2 miles to the Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC).

Lake Lure Beach and Marina are not too far away if you plan on venturing out to enjoy a weekend by the lake. If you would rather spend the day hiking along the scenic trails, Chimney Rock State Park is less than 10 minutes from the cabin.

Worthy of Log Home Magazine
The wonderful two-story great room has beautiful wood floors, a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace with gas logs, and is furnished with locally crafted log furniture.

The king bed suite has a rocking chair, many charming decorative accents, and a sliding door that leads to the covered deck. Begin your morning with coffee on the porch swing. The ceramic-tile bathroom adjoining the suite has a corner jetted tub for a relaxing soak after a day spent hiking, swimming, fishing, or kayaking. This home comes with 2 kayaks!

Guests will appreciate the two additional bedrooms, each with sliding doors that lead to the deck. One bedroom has a queen bed, and the other has 2 twin beds. There is a full bath (tub/shower combination) nearby.

Stairs from the living area lead to a cozy loft. Furnished with a queen futon, Cable TV, and a game table, it is a perfect spot for an additional sleeping area, quiet reading, or board games (bring cards or your favorite games to enjoy).

Covered porches surround the front of the cabin, and ample glass doors and windows offer soothing views of the woods beyond. There is also a back deck and a screened porch off the kitchen where guests can enjoy breakfast with the sounds of nature. A new fire pit area is sure to be popular, and beautiful winter views of Lake Lure add to the enjoyment of a winter stay at the Bear's Den.

Beautiful Year-Round
This mountain home is perfect for every season! Enjoy the beautiful, snowy weather in the winter, where a cozy cabin feels just right. Stay warm by the fireplace or relax in the jetted tub in the master bath. Visit in the summer when the weather is perfect all the time, and you can enjoy the soothing summer breezes and beautiful sunsets from the scenic porch overlook.

Something for Everyone
No matter the season, this mountain home, our beautiful area, and Lake Lure have so much to offer, whether it is plentiful choices of restaurants or shopping or a fun outdoor adventure you and your loved ones will never forget.

Conveniently Located
The Bear's Den is minutes from Lake Lure Beach, Chimney Rock State Park, and the village. Lake Lure was ranked by National Geographic Magazine as one of the top scenic lakes in the world. There are water sport rental options (kayaks, wakeboards, boats, etc.) and pontoon tours of the lake.

The iconic Chimney Rock, for which the village and State Park are named, was featured in Arthur Frommer's Sept/Oct 2012 issue of Budget Travel magazine. The park received the platinum award for Favorite State Park in Blue Ridge Country’s 2013 Best of the Mountains travel poll, with voting every five years and covering seven southern states in the Appalachian Mountains. Several excellent golf courses are nearby, including Apple Valley Golf Course, Bald Mountain Golf Course, and Etowah Valley Country Club and Golf Resort, which Golf Digest rated as one of the top 50 golf destinations in the US.

If you enjoy scenic drives, head out of Lake Lure on Alt 74 (curvy and scenic Memorial Highway) through Chimney Rock Village, Bat Cave, Gerton, Fairview, toward Asheville to pick up what many consider the most beautiful length of road in this country, the Blue Ridge Parkway. If you have not traveled this stretch of road, it is something to add to your bucket list. Actor Norman Reedus of The Boondock Saints and The Walking Dead fame featured the parkway on a 2016 episode of his AMC TV series Ride with Norman (Appalachia: Blue Ridge Parkway, Season 1 Episode 3). Just 1.25 hours from the home and five miles off the parkway is Maggie Valley, home to the Wheels Through Time transportation museum that features rare American motorcycles, memorabilia, and a distinct array of unique one-off American automobiles.

This home is centrally located just 15 minutes from Bat Cave, 35 minutes from Hendersonville, 50 minutes from Asheville, and about 2 hours from Charlotte, North Carolina. Also nearby are Pisgah National Forest (less than 1 hour from Lake Lure), which has over 500,000 acres of protected forest, and DuPont State Recreational Forest (1.25 hours from Lake Lure) with over 10,000 acres. These forests feature hundreds of miles of hiking, biking, and horse trails, exquisite waterfalls, and beautiful mountaintop views. If you and/or your children are fans of The Hunger Games book and movie, a scene with Katniss and Gale was shot at the Pisgah National Forest. A few small but significant scenes were also filmed at the DuPont State Recreational Forest.

The Lake Lure/Chimney Rock is conveniently situated for outdoor adventure, including horseback riding, tubing, water sports, and hiking; museums and theater; the Biltmore Estate and Village; shopping and restaurants; and so much more. If you visit once, we are confident you’ll return again and again for the rest, beauty, fun, comfort, and hospitality. We hope to see you soon and look forward to you being our guest!

This home decorates for Christmas.

AREA WIDE NOTICE: Lake Lure will undergo a drawdown from January 1st, 2025, through the first quarter of 2025 (March 31st). The lake will begin to be lowered by approximately 1 foot per day until 12 feet have been reached. Infrastructure maintenance, dredging, and dam projects will be expedited during this time frame. These efforts by the Town of Lake Lure may affect access to the lake and restrict any lake usage. For more information, click here. The lake will likely be back up to normal levels by mid to late April. While we understand this is an inconvenience, this does allow you to enjoy the full beauty of Lake Lure in the fall and holiday season. This will not affect the smaller lakes in the area, only Lake Lure itself.

Smoking is prohibited in all of our vacation rental homes.
Parking for three to four (3-4) vehicles. Wheelchair ramp to home.
Check-in time is 4:00 p.m. local time (or anytime later).

Great Cabin Beautiful Views!
This cabin was adorable and clean. The location was close enough to the water and docks to fish. From the large covered deck you could see mountains and the Lake. It was nice to go out to see the sunrise in the mornings. Would stay again!

Rocky Roads
The cabin itself is all we expected except for a few things - we specifically wanted 2 bathrooms but unfortunately we only had 1 shower in the house. We didn’t realize that the master didn’t have a shower along with tub so that was very inconvenient. Also we had dogs and the driveway and road were all Rocks and steep inclines. Absolutely no where to walk our dogs so we had to resort To taking them to dog parks.

Wonderful cabin with access drivable access to Lake Lure
The cabin was great, and suited our needs. There was plenty of cookware, bath towels, and space to relax. The covered front porch is large, and inviting; definitely the highlight of the cabin. The immediate surrounding area is under construction, and made for a less appealing experience when coming and going. We arrived at the cabin after dark, and the sparse outdoor lighting around the cabin made it difficult to determine if we were at the right cabin, and how to get inside. Reaching out to the property mgmt was easy and quick, even at that late hour. Overall we are very happy with our stay.

Highly recommend. We have rented many places but this was the cleanest and more organized place we have stayed. It was nearby many sites and had a fantastic view of Lake Lure.

Warm, inviting log cabin with peek-a-boo lake view
Loved the cabin and the view. The ramp was convenient and the front porch (and swing!) were fabulous. Gravel road was difficult when meeting oncoming cars. Slid down the gravel driveway and fell when taking trash to outdoor trash can. Fortunately not injured, but we decided to take trash with us for safety's sake. Otherwise, perfect!
