Hurricane Helene Update: Our property was impacted by the historic flooding in western NC from Hurricane Helene on Sept 27, 2024. Fortunately, the lakehouse was not damaged. However, Buffalo Creek experienced significant flooding that has changed the appearance of the property along the lake shore. We have closed the lakehouse until May 1, 2025 so we have time to restore the property.
The flooding deposited a significant amount of sand into the confluence of Buffalo Creek and Bald Mountain Lake, which has made it too shallow for us to put the dock back in it's original location. The lake will be dredged again to restore it to its original depth but we don't know when that will be scheduled at this time. Our guests will still have access to the Sea Eagle Boat, SUPs and kayaks. We have temporarily relocated the dock on our property to the other side of Buffalo Creek. Guests can access it but you have to walk across Buffalo Creek to do so, which is easy in water-shoes or bare-foot.
We will be installing new landscaping on the property in March - April of 2025 and will post updated photos of the backyard and lake at the end of April. While Bald Mountain Lake (where our lakehouse is located) will be available for swimming, kayaking etc, Lake Lure will not be available in 2025 as the town is continuing to work on clean up from the storm last Fall.
