Casa Cian is a beautifully maintained property and is officially licensed by the Portuguese Authorities for rental purposes. It is a recently renovated 2 bedroom 8th floor duplex apartment in the Luztur Complex situated right in the centre of Luz, it is a 2 minute walk to the beach. As it is the end apartment in the tallest building in Luz it has the most stunning panoramic view in all of Luz from sunrise to sunset. Being the end apartment it also benefits from having a fireplace with a Wood burning stove for the cooler winter months.
Fiber Optic High Speed Wi-Fi : For those of you working remotely I have just installed (Sept 2020) Unlimited High Speed Fibre Optic Wi-Fi so that you can now benefit from a quiet working environment with a stunning view. It is DL 500, 100 UL Mbps, which in practical terms is several devices for 4/5 people.
The upstairs level consists of 2 bedrooms (sleeps 4), both with sea views.. Plus a bathroom with state of the art shower unit .
Down stairs is the kitchen, spacious living room and large balcony area. The kitchen at the entrance is fully fitted with all mod cons and makes maximum use of the available space. It is bright and airy.
The living room is spacious, warm and welcoming with an open wood burning stove for winter months, it has a L shaped settee, subdued lighting and a large oval shaped dining table leading on to the balcony. Freesat Satellite TV / DVD / Fiber Optic High Speed unlimited internet access / iPod docking station.
I have also installed your very own Honesty Bar with a spinning Optic wheel. So, at 6 o clock time (or earlier) if you have had a hard day at the beach or perhaps spent the day Video Conferencing you can make yourself a soothing Margarita and enjoy the
fading light on the beach below. Perfect.
The balcony is large with an overhanging area for sunbathing and a separate area also which has the Bar-B-Q on it.
Praia da Luz area: Praia da Luz meaning beach of light is a former fishing village and despite development over the years it has lost none of it's charm or character. There are plenty of good restaurants in Luz, especially sea food. And the beach itself is beautiful for an early morning or evening stroll.
Check out the wonderful the Aerial Video of Luz on this site taken by Lewis Davies.
Lagos is the nearest town. It has lots of history and is well worth a visit. It benefits from a strong summer sun with a cooling breeze. Spring and Autumn weather is glorious with warm fresh days and balmy evening breezes.
Lagos is an old Moorish port. It has a more lively night life than Luz and has plenty of good restaurants to choose from. It has a daily indoor market selling fresh fish and vegetables and you will enjoy just strolling along it's old narrow cobbled streets or the new tastefully developed Marina, offering boat trips to visit the famous grottos and caves of Ponte de Piedade.
Praia da Luz area: The beach and pace of life make it ideal for a very relaxing holiday. From the atmospheric Fortaleza overlooking the rugged cliffs, you can stroll along the promenade towards the beautiful beach, and enjoy a coffee along the way in one of the many small sea front restaurants.
There are a good choice of restaurants in Luz and if you like seafood, you won't be disappointed.
There are also good cafes/restaurants and take-aways that are reasonably priced. There is a very good Portuguese run restaurant on the beach itself which is not overly priced.
There are now 2 local supermarkets right beside the apartment, a SPAR in the same block, you simply take the elevator downstairs. It has a good choice of products and is good value. It also has a nice coffee shop. The other supermarket is Baptista's which is just 200 metres across the road from the apartment.
Casa Cian and Luz: The sunrises are stunning, rising over the sea at the far end of the beach. From here I can watch the fishing boats come in as the fishermen wrap up another nights catch. At sunset I can sit out and enjoy the warm glow of the evening light on Rocha Negra, literally translated ‘Black Cliff’, the cliff at the far end of the beach which was formed from volcanic activity.
Luz is ideally suited to both the independent traveller who wants to explore, hike and cycle, but equally it is a quieter family resort catering to kids.
It really has everything you need close at hand, and if you play Golf, you have a choice of several courses close by and great deals in winter time.
I would highly recommend Luz as an all year round destination, with 3000 hours of sunshine per annum, the equivalent to California, how can you go wrong.
