Rustic property in a remote location
This rating is primarily due to location. I feel badly because I should have done my homework on the location. It was too far for our interests. Convenient to lovely Waimea and some resorts, but not to Kona or other parts of the island that my family preferred. It was our first time on the Big Island, so I learned from this trip. The living space was comfortable, bedrooms were rustic and quirky (no closets, random tools, limited nightstands). Weirdly, the coffeemaker made only 3 mugs. I think most people expect more capacity. The main bedroom had a large gap in the wall that allowed light from the living room to illuminate the room. I mis-interpreted a hot tub as something on the deck or outside that the family could enjoy. I think that the description really meant the jetted bathtub in the ensuite bath. Also showering was challenging without shower walls. We needed more bathrooms for 3 couples. A powder room addition would have really helped. The property does have lot's of privacy, great views and we enjoyed the sunsets and watching the herd of cattle that grazed nearby. The property owner's home is next door, and the property owner was great, very responsive.
