Among the many resorts on the beachfront Fort Myers strip, I paid the extra money to reserve a room at DiamondHead for a few reasons: 1) it appeared to be well kept and had the amenities I was looking for. 2) It was beachfront and my pregnant wife would not have to go far to enjoy the shore. Unfortunately, on the days of our visit, the beach directly in front of the resort was completely blocked off for construction. Yes, constriction… on the beach. I have no idea what they are constructing on sand, but we no longer had the pivotal reason we selected this hotel- beachfront access. So instead we would need to walk to the shore in front of a nearby resort to enjoy the water. Huge bummer. Not to mention the noise that the construction was creating. Also there were signs saying that they stop activity at 5pm, I can assure you that they went hours after that each night. But besides that horrible set back, and despite not getting the key thing we wanted out of this trip, the room itself was absolutely beautiful and the balcony views were stunning. I wish our experience were different, and I would like to get a second chance at enjoying it at its best capacity. But still bummed out I didn’t get an email or a call after the reservation was made to let us know we would lose this key feature… That is definitely something I recommend the resort to do for future projects like this.
