Back to the mountains
Back in 2020 we spent xmas and new years in Banner Elk. We had to go back this 2023/24. We stayed in the same community, Eagles Nest, we visited local restaurants, coffee shops and did some shopping. It never ceased to impress. It snowed, the weather was xmas card perfect. The cabin was clean, organized and perfect. We will come back soon, we are in love with this place.

The Most Magical Weekend
We finally timed it right and caught a snowstorm during our weekend trip. This house was amazing and the location was PERFECTION for sledding! My kids had the best time and we enjoyed grilling out and cooking meals at the house while enjoying the snow!

Beautiful home with lots to do!
My husband and I loved our stay in this cabin! The sofa and beds were comfy, the appliances and bathrooms were outstanding, and the view off the porch was lovely. A short walk from the cabin is a sprortsmans lodge and a dog park, which our two dogs happily explored. Also near the cabin is a winery and an ATV rental place. Within 20 minutes, there's lots to do -- downtown Banner Elk has restaurants and shops to visit, ziplining and tubing outfitters, and Elk River Falls is a short hike (10 minutes) with a gorgeous waterfall at the end. Definitely a great cabin in a perfect location!

Beautiful accommodations
Cottage was extremely nice and the views were beautiful Lots of wildlife including a visit from a black bear that was very exciting and made for great videoing . The only negative is that it is 7 miles (20min.) up the mountain from entrance gate with no advance knowledge of this distance until day of check in TM SWR Fl.

Beautiful Property
The home was very nice for a family of 4, 2 adults, twin boys 7. The ping pong table was a hit! The view was beautiful! So serene to sit outside on the porch with coffee in the mornings! Lovely, quiet neighborhood. It’s a little hike from the main entrance, about 20 mins, but a very pretty drive. Well stocked starters…paper towels, soap, trash bags, etc. While the kitchen, and bathrooms were clean, and the place smells like brand new construction, the floors and family room couch definitely were not up to our cleanliness standards. Note: We did not bring pets, but this property does allow for them, and it shows. The floors were filmy, and after about 20 mins in the house the bottoms of our bare feet were brown from the floors. Upstairs and down floors were filthy. Pulled up the bath mats in both bathrooms and dirt fell out all over. Had to wash them. Washer and Dryer definitely a plus!!! Also, the main family room couch is upholstered fabric and has a pet smell to it, fur and dander very apparent. I also have to agree with previous review about the beds. The master bed we tried with the foam topper the first night, and was so uncomfortable. 2nd night on we slept without topper, and mattress pad did not fit well over mattress that is plastic wrapped and slipped around and was uncomfortable. Overall, the property’s view and community amenities were fantastic. We truly enjoyed our stay.

Clean, modern and well equipped, this house was a great place to stay. Loved the porch and the view. Construction next door was annoying but not too bad inside the house.

Beautiful home, but...
Let me start with the pros: the home is beautiful, clean and has everything you could need. Great mountain views. Beautifully decorated. The leasing company is wonderful to work with. Lot of fun time spent at the ping pong table! The fireplace was awesome to unwind and really warmed up the living room on the cold and rainy day we had. Dog park was great. The sofa is SUPER comfy and the property manager went out of her way to find out where it was purchased from for me. Tons of places to walk and hike. So, now the cons: It takes 15 minutes (we timed it) from the community entrance to get up the mountain and back down to reach the home - wish we would have known that. There is allot of construction going on within the community and specifically right around this particular home - there is no sleeping in with the loud trucks, hammering and nail guns going off (really wish we would have known this - probably need to have a disclosure for this home so people are prepared to be ok with this or not), all the construction also has the community's roads in pretty bad shape. The beds were a con for us, but others may really like them. They are the foam type. I had to sleep on the couch because they are uncomfortable to me and my bad back. Not allot of room at the driveway which makes it difficult to navigate a larger vehicle. There were not any cushions on the back porch sectional which was disappointing.

The Northern Exposure at Eagles Nest
The views from this property are amazing. The interior of the house was really nice. The gas fireplace really heated the interior well. Tons of pots and pans etc., which made it nice since there is not a restaurant on the whole property and it is a good drive back to the closest area to eat. Our kids loved the ping pong table. The outdoor porch looks great and I am sure well used during the warmer months. Plenty of room for 4 of us plus a dog. I would have ranked this 5 stars. However, I was disappointed that there was not cable or direct tv. You could stream but I would have at least liked live TV and having that option especially at night. Outside around the property it was also evident previous renters did not clean up after their dogs. This made it difficult to play on the property with kids and a dog. I would also recommend adding a gas grill, I think renters would enjoy that. Overall, we highly enjoyed this property and our 4 day vacation. Our kids enjoyed celebrating their birthday especially as we got some fresh snow in the morning. The positives of this house far outweigh any negatives.
