Perfect place for us to hang out between hunting. Enough space to spread out and the game room downstairs was perfect for pool tournaments and the card table was great for our family poker games.

Lots to do
Overall, the property is beautiful. Plenty of space with lots to do. There was 13 of us and we were never bored. Beautiful property on the river. Enjoued movies, poll table, cards, hot tub, kayaking, fishing, and smores. Only thing that couldve been better was the mattresses on the fold out couches. We loved it.

Nice family getaway!
Location and house met our needs. LOTS of sleeping arrangement options with multiple pullout couches, mattresses under beds, and trundle bed. Kitchen and laundry room were well stocked with plenty of cleaning supplies and trash bags. Coffee pods, sweetener packets, spices in kitchen. Gas grill was convenient. Bathrooms stocked with shampoo, conditioner, makeup wipes, and body wash. The listing stated the hot tub was out of order. I messaged the host/property manager upon booking asking if it would be in order during our dates and never received a response. The hot tub appeared to be working fine upon arrival, but we didn't use it without knowing if we were supposed to. House could use a deep clean, but overall it was clean. Just needs some attention to fans, cabinets, cobwebs, etc. The access to the water (lake) was not good. We did use the kayaks which was nice, but had to trek through mud to launch. Launching was not easy from the property. Fishing wasn't possible from the property due to the muddy bank. Swimming was also not possible for the same reason. We enjoyed the basement area the most, playing games and pool. The fire pit area was convenient and the screened in porch area off of the basement was nice to avoid mosquitoes. The deck was nice and big, but very limited view of the water. Would definitely stay here again, but our preference is for better access to the water for fishing, swimming, etc. Overall the house had plenty of space for everyone!

3 day weekend
Great place and sweet setup. Easy walk down to the water although it was very high. We brought our own smoker and pizza oven and just lounged around the house and played cornhole and pool. The cat from other reviews I read showed up and hung out all weekend as well. Utilized the hot tub which was clean and easy to operate. Only knock on it is the kitchen sink easily clogs but will drain if you run the dishwasher.

This beautiful house had everything we needed! We literally could have shown up with only the clothes on our backs and would have had everything we needed! The house was immaculate and spacious. We also got lots of visits from Elijah, a neighborhood cat! He was the sweetest boy! We will definitely be staying here again!

Perfect Family Retreat
Kayaking, floating, swimming, fire pit, hot tub, screened porch, upper open deck (with visits from a sweet heart of a cat Elijah), charcoal grill, poker table, pool table, bar, and other things for entertainment. However, this place is also set up for personal space and r&r if that’s what you are seeking. We loved it here.

Perfect Family Getaway!
Words cannot express how beautiful this home is. I was pleasantly shocked that the listing was so accurate. The wrap around deck is to die for. The patio furniture is so nice. The view is beautiful and so peaceful. The kitchen comes fully stocked with literally everything you need. The laundry room is every woman's dream. The jacuzzi tub in the master bath was so relaxing. The decor was so beautiful. The den downstairs was a huge hit with the grown kids. They loved the pool table, the card table, the big screen tv. The comfy sectional was awesome! The hot tub was so nice! The downstairs screened in patio with the hanging lights was beautiful. There are big screen smart tvs throughout! I just cant describe how much we fell in love with the home. So a few things I think it could use....a chair for the master bedroom. A couple more kayaks because we had to take turns using them. With that being said my family loveddddd the kayaking. Some bigger bowls in the kitchen for cereal. So as you can see those are just a few little things I personally would like. But those things would never keep me from staying here again! I would recommend bringing bug spray. The mosquitos are awful but that's to be expected by water. If you wanna go swimming Paris Landing is about a 30 minute drive away and it's free public swimming at the Cumberland River and has a nice roped off spot that isn't too deep. Thank you for such a wonderful stay!

Pristine Lakeview Home
We loved this property and all the amenities it had to offer. It offered a gorgeous lake view from the deck. The property was well stocked. My only issue was that the kitchen sink kept clogging...no garbage disposal, so it would just remain clogged for up to several hours before it would all drain. Other then that....it was a joy!!!

Great Family Vacation Home
Our family enjoyed many aspects of our trip! We had 10 people stay in the home; 5 adults (32-68) and 5 children (7-14). The hot tub, game room, and kayaks were a big hit, and we were pleased to find 3 kayaks instead of 2. However, access to the water is very muddy and stagnant. We found a boat “put-in” by taking Teal Dr (road before home; unaccessible by low-profile vehicles). We utilized that area to swim, kayak, and set out trot lines. A neighbor told us of a creek at the northernmost part of the slough with clear water and blue rocks (accessible only by boat/kayak). We ventured there in our kayaks, but the water level had dropped too low to access the area. The kids were excited to find several blue rocks in the yard. The fire pit was easily accessible and had an abundance of firewood available for use. The main deck was spacious and provided plenty of seating and the grill was very nice. Previous issues of holes in the deck have been remedied. The screened-in porch was also a popular place. The sleeping arrangements worked well for us and the kids loved the bunk beds. While we didn’t use them, there were trundle beds available. The home is nicely decorated and comfortable; the large laundry room was perfect for a secondary food storage area. The home was stocked with everything we needed and more. One thing we suggest supplying is a better can opener! We managed with the ones provided, but not without some difficulty! We had very few dislikes. No, the home is NOT on the lake! Rather, it is in a slough on the Cumberland River. This could be an issue for those wanting to bring a boat and have easy access to the lake. We had a little difficulty with cell reception (Verizon) and internet, but we found areas we could go to in order to make sure calls weren’t dropped and texts went through. The terrain would be difficult for the elderly or young children to walk down to the kayaks. At night, ensure coolers are closed and locked, and anything you don’t want eaten or explored is inside or secured. The raccoons thoroughly enjoyed a bag of boiled peanuts from our Yeti that was closed, but not latched! As stated previously, the home is nicely decorated and comfortable, but if the owners are looking for anything they can spruce, there were areas that could use some touch up paint. Dollar General was 15-20 minutes away. If you plan to spend time on the lake, we HIGHLY recommend Bumpus Marina, less than 30 minutes away and very easy to work with!

Not what we expected
Our stay was not the best. I had emailed the owner about a marina to rent a boat and never heard back from them. The spot for the trailer had a jet ski in it so we could not use it. The driveway is very steep. We were unable to use the deck due to the very large holes in it. The gas grill is rotted out and you could see the deck through it. There must be fish in an outside trash can because the smell was terrible and lots of flies. The downstairs stereo didn’t work so we were unable to watch tv. The gaps in the loft railing are very large and our 1.5 year olds could easily fit through them (giving me quite a terrifying experience). The upstairs master fan only had one setting so it was hot. Other things that are out of the owners control but, others should be aware of: there are cats who roam free, the neighbors dogs bark a lot in their outside cage, a large possum likes to hang out on the deck, and the power likes to go out. The kitchen was well stocked, the hot tub was nice, and it was mostly peaceful. The downstairs sun room was nice and we enjoyed the pool table. I would just highly not recommend if you have small children between the loft railings and the large deck holes.

beautiful spacious home
We loved the house and the peaceful remote location. From the listing I thought it was located on Lake Barkley but it would be more accurate to say located on the Cumberland River. I should have paid more attention to the map location, however it did not disappoint. The house is roomy and well appointed. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. The downstairs is a great gathering place for the family and has a large bar area. We enjoyed the hot tub that was sparkling clean and appreciated the beach towels provided. The screened porch will be great for summer when the mosquitoes are out. There are 2 kayaks that we did not use. It looked like the water level was down when we were there so it would have been a long drag down and back up from the water. There is plenty of space on the deck but the cushioned seating area was not useable as the cushions have tears and are water soaked. It would be great if the cushions were replaced. There is also a large grill which we did have the opportunity to use as we dined out for dinner. The large laundry room was very handy. There are a lot of large TV's but we opted for reading and board games. We also enjoyed the gas fireplace on those cool spring nights. Of note, this is in a dry county so if you plan to imbibe, bring your own. The Dollar General does sell beer but not wine. We had a great dinner at Momma Meas - the pizza was delicious. The local Dover Grill was not so great. We went to Fort Donelson and the National Cemetery. They are definitely worth a visit. If you pass through Paducah, KY on your drive be sure to stop at the Gold Rush for breakfast. Best place we've dined in a very long time and definitely order a scotch egg. We would definitely stay at this rental again.

Amazing host
This host went above and beyond to make sure our stay was absolutely incredible. We came to town for a funeral so morale was low but when we saw the home our spirits were lifted and we remembered times we had in Dover when we were younger with family and friends. The day we got there an ice storm came into forecast and the host did everything they could to make sure we were safe and prepared for anything, he gave us the option for a late check out and an extra day if needed to make sure that we could leave the property safely. Once we were able to leave he gave us directions that avoided all of the icy roads — once again going above and beyond even after we left the property. If and when we return to Dover I will be sure to check to see if this home is available — during a sad time it felt like home and it is exactly what our group needed.
