The staff was super nice and friendly, the pool area is also nice. Best thing about it is the view. I stayed Oceanfront on the bottom floor and you can’t beat the view. I just wanted a quick get away and other than the air conditioner making a really annoying and loud squealing type noise (I brought a fan so I just turned the AC off the 2nd night) the room was clean for the most part. They could use better blankets but just bring your own. There was a room, I’m assuming, with a kitchen where the door was in my room and theirs (adjoining rooms) and it sounded like they were in my room but they weren’t noisy late at night so it was fine. I think they really need to work on the outside of the place just a coat of paint or something. Would I stay here again? Yes. The view was great, staff was nice and if you just need a room to sleep in, for the price, can’t beat it.

I've stayed at the Makia many times over the last 6 years. My wife has been staying with them over the past 40 years. The building is showing its age.. the owners are doing their best to keep up with it.. the newly remodeled kitchen & breakfast area looks great. Our room was clean.. maintaince had to replace the refrigerator during our stay. The view of the beach was great! Our bed very comfortable. Hotel.com said hotel was pet friendly but did not tell us there is a $25.00 per day charge for pets. Even for service dogs . Would I choose the Makia again? Most definitely!

We go to Ormond beach at least every other month. This an older place but the price is good and the rooms are clean. This is the only place we stay at when we go to Ormond beach.

This is one of my favorite hotels! I love that they and the beach are dog friendly, and I can take my furkids along. The staff is always smiling and welcoming, pool and jacuzzi are clean and not too crowded.

It’s a fair price for what you get. Big value for ocean front. Hot tub and heated pool are awesome. The place is in desperate need of maintenance and updates. Like plaster falling by the hot tub from just a rain shower. Paint peeling. Patched spots abound. Furniture from the 70s, maybe 60s. But my room had no bugs, was clean. I enjoyed the kitchenette. Every staff person I ran across was polite. Parking is very limited and they tow, a lot. Breakfast is subjective. Met one guest from Seattle who thought it was awful. One from Sanford who loved it. It’s carb city. No protein. But the bagels were decent quality. The donut holes, cinnamon rolls, oatmeal weren’t below average fare. The biscuits (which are baked (frozen ones)) and gravy were ok, and are only available on weekends. I would go back at pricing I got if the things I value are working as was on my trip.
