Nice...but
The curb appeal is nice, house was cleaned, adequately furnished, however if you're stay is in the summer the one air conditioner unit do not sufficiently cool the second and third floors, you will need a fan. The back deck furniture could use an upgrade and a good power washing...Btw the trash dumpster is at the rental office

Snow covered Bluegrass New Years
Great location to gather together to ring in the new year! Close to Blackwater, Davis and Thomas WV - we explored works from great artists and stomped our feet to the music of the Plate Scrapers. Enjoyed sleeping in and waking up to snow covered lake views. (Only hiccup was non heating hot tub and no dumpster for trash.)

Family Getaway to Woodland Pond
Our family frequents the Davis/Thomas/Canaan Valley area quite often, but this was our first stay at Woodland Pond. The house was beautiful and accommodated our large group of eleven easily. It was wonderful to sit on the back porch and watch our children fishing and canoeing to their leisure. It truly made for a relaxing weekend. However, upon arrival we noticed that the main and upper levels of the house were very hot (78 - 80 degrees), and did not seem to be cooling down despite the AC being on. We noticed that the unit was set to 45 degrees! Naturally, the AC unit was completely frozen and not functioning properly. We contacted the rental service immediately. They sent a technician within minutes. However, there was nothing he could do to remedy the situation. We were advised to shut off the AC to thaw naturally and then hopefully the unit would work. It never did. Luckily, the outside temperatures were not too unbearable and we were able to open the windows and screened doors to allow the mountain air to filter throughout the house. Also, we were not given any chemicals to add to the hot tub/spa., nor were there any in the tub upon arrival. After a long weekend of constant use, the water was quite cloudy and even turning green.

Excellent location for seeing fall foliage
This is a very comfortable home for friends and family of many ages to enjoy. However, there are no beds on the main floor although there is a half bath. Two bedrooms are upstairs, each having an attached bathroom with showers, no tub. Two bedrooms are downstairs with a shared hallway bathroom that does have a tub.

Great location!
This home was our home away from home! It’s location was perfect for all our adventures! (Laundry was left in washer and dryer for our stay! Cleaning service should have handled that better.)

We had a great couple day stay. Everyone enjoyed the location and the property. The pond is well stocked. Only recommendation would be another tv. There is only one downstairs.

nice house on the pond
The house was nice overall and it accommodated our large family gathering. The living room was clean and relaxing. The kitchen was well equipped. The view of the pond was nice and the location was serene. The only issue we had was that the downstairs (lower level) smelled like mildew. Also, the air did not circulate well in the house so when the AC was on, it was freezing downstairs and warm upstairs. It was a bit difficult for everyone to feel comfortable. The bed linens and pillows could use some updating as well. All that said, it was one of the better places we've stayed at near Davis.

Beautiful Home but needs TLC
We arrived for our family summer get away at this lake home, with our two adult children and 2 granddaugher's . When I walked into the front door I was impressed by the homes decor and living space. Once I had an opportunity to look around I noticed how the exterior living space, the deck and access to the lake were unkept. The beautiful glass doors take up all of the back of the home, but due to the lack of maintenance, they were full of dead bugs, cob/spiderwebs and made it very unsightly. The home would have been perfect had it just been given some TLC. There were cob webs, spiders everywhere even inside the home. The main fireplace was not working- and I'm sure you're saying, fireplace in the middle of summer. When we arrived the temperature was in the low 60's and raining. The fireplace would have gotten rid of the dampness in the home.. sitting on a lake makes the home very damp. I guess the reason for the two dehumidifiers in the lower level which does need to be drained every other day. The gas barbecue is rusted and needs to be replaced or repaired. disappointed that we weren't able to use it in it's condition. the outside chairs were dirty and full of spiderwebs, bird droppings and the lower deck had green/black mold on the floor. The hot tub cover has nothing to support it when opened, and has a nest of wasps making it impossible to relax in the hot tub. The path to the lake has not been maintained and we found broken glass bottle by the canoe. There is no dock to launch the boat, so you do need to prepare for entering the water. We found no oars and called the mgmt company only to find that we needed to go to the office to pick them up. We did manage to go out on the lake twice, but not in the canoe, since there is a noticeable hole that looks as though someone tried to repair. This would have been a perfect place to return to with our family, but I've been to other homes that were taken much better care of and will not return.. I paid for cleaning, but I know that I left the home cleaner than I found it..... A little TLC would make a Hugh difference in this home.

The house was very comfortable, clean and quiet. We had everything we needed and thoroughly enjoyed our family gathering. The hot tub worked well too and the view very pretty. Many wildlife areas to check out nearby. We recommend this house and hope to go back again.

Beautiful Lakefront Home
We were 3 retired couples from Pittsburgh returning to the Canaan Valley area where we used to camp out as 20 year olds. The home was great for us. The 4 bedrooms were spacious and clean. There are two bedrooms with king or queen beds and 2 with 2 single beds. The 3 1/2 baths gave each couple their own bathroom. The kitchen, dining room and living room are on the main floor and have hardwood floors throughout. There are 2 bedrooms on the 2nd floor and 2 on the lower level. The lower level can be used as a suite for a family with children. There are two bedrooms and a large family room on the lower level. The main floor and the lower suite area provides access to a multi level deck overlooking the lake with a hot tub. The home was well stocked and the beds and furniture were comfortable. There is a 3/4 mile walking trail around the lake. There are two towns about 6 miles away which has stores, eateries and shopping. The Canaan Valley resort is an easy 6 mile ride away as is Blackwater Falls state park with many marked hiking trails. The area is a ski area so the crowds were limited but the scenery and mountain views were great. We even saw a bear on one of our hikes. The pictures do not do the home justice. I would go back to this home again if we ever visit Canaan Valley area again. Gary S. Pittsburgh

Absolutely beautiful
We arrived late but the realty company made that painless. The house was beautiful and clean. The views of the pond was extremely quiet and relaxing. A perfect weekend away. I would recommend this house and plan to book it again.
