Not a bad little setup at all. Host made sure we knew how to get in. We would stay again but everyone should know there are rv’s and others nearby. Everyone kept their distance and were respectful of each others privacy so all in all a private time still.

Aspen Heaven
We stayed here for a weekend since it was down the road (15 mins) from my cousins wedding. We had a wonderful time. We could hear the elk bugling at night and in the am a little bit. The view of Lone Cone is stunning and my favorite tree is the Aspen so I was literally in heaven here. We had everything we needed and a few little extras were also provided by the host, what a treat! A few teenage kitties running around made my dog go crazy but they are very friendly. I would stay here again!

We came up for a week hunting trip and ran across laughing coyote lodge. Decided to book and stay and what a great trip. I recommend this place to anyone wanting to get away from it all. Ms. Becky and her staff couldn’t be better.

Must see views
This area is amazing! The cabin is up the mountain 30 miles and is secluded but yet comfortable with ppl within the area. The drive is slow going but worth it with the awesome views of beautiful mountains and scenic outlooks. The hummingbird feeder that hangs from the porch brings hummingbirds every morning, that are friendly and curious. Deer grised the backyard each morning also. And the cabin was well stock with kitchen stuff ,some everyday food items and firewood. The place was clean enough for a cabin . Host was friendly and helped with any issues that may have arisen. I will differently keep this on the list of places that we need to go back to.

Hidden Gem!
I booked this cabin looking for a camping experience without the headaches of camping. I like the outdoors, but I also like to be dry, clean, and comfortable. This cabin was perfect. Just as described. There is one other similar cabin to the south and one large cabin/home to the north, with the site host in a camper to the east. But we always felt like we had enough privacy with the trees and the way they set up the outdoor space. It rained off and on during our stay, which allowed us a small fire in the fire pit (after they lifted restrictions the day before!) and some wonderful family time snuggled up in the woodsy cabin playing Monopoly (furnished by cabin) and eating popcorn while the rain pattered on the new metal roof. The property had been fixed up quite a bit, with a new grill, newer linens, and new paint/stain/waterproofer on wood. Even the picnic table was nicely covered with new clean poly. Tanya, the camp host was cheerful and very welcoming and helped bring us more filtered water (instant hot water, what a luxury!), and any towels or toilet paper. We've been other places where the camp host was more put out that we were at "their campsite" but Tanya made us feel very comfortable and welcome. I would say this property was the perfect mix of rustic + comfort. 2 adults, 3 kids, 1 dog, plenty of room, plenty of beds, plenty of fun! We even entered our kids into their first fishing derby! We would definitely come back!

Unplug and be refreshed!
What a beautiful place to spend a week! Leaving the town of Dolores, you travel up the canyon wall, through the San Juan forest, and open up to amazing mountain and meadow views. Full meadows of yellow flowers, and birds, deer, elk, ground hogs, chipmunks... even the angus cows with their calves we found endearing to see grazing or walking across the roads. The last 11 miles are unpaved, and a bit rough on our little Corolla, but no regrets. The cabin is near enough to the lodge and other cabin to see through the trees, but we never heard the other guests unless we walked by their places. SO quiet! The cabin looked just as charming as the photos, and had everything we needed in terms of dishes, appliances, linens & towels, and other convenient items. When we arrived, the windows were open and the place was nicely cooled, and there was a nice note welcoming us, as well as some local dried beans and honey. Tanya, the host, and her 3 dogs made us feel most welcome! She was very friendly, helpful, and just a joy to be around. There is a small but useful store at the lake nearby for some grocery items or liquor. We met a friendly cabin owner (Thanks, D.!)who took us up the mountain where our car wouldn't have gone, for some gorgeous mountain views. No TV, no wifi... when we weren't off to Durango, we enjoyed hiking around in the aspens, playing games, reading in the rocking chair on the front porch, birding, and watching the deer who came very near to the cabin. Great area for birders! This really is the place to get away.

I want to leave a poor review so we can keep this secret to ourselves, but I think the cat is out of the bag! What a gem, right near Groundhog Reservoir. The aspen grove right outside the cabin made you feel really close to nature. It's also in close proximity to hiking, fishing and boating. Our checkin process was smooth and we instantly felt welcome at the property. The cabin had comfortable beds and all the amenities you'd need. It's a drive from Dolores but man it was 100% worth it. We really had a great opportunity to enjoy each other and didn't even notice the absence of cell reception, wifi and TV.

Incredible Place to Disconnect
This is a great place to stay. If you are on the fence, book it. You won’t be disappointed. We had a wonderful stay and look forward to coming back again in the spring or summer. It’s an amazing property and we had a wonderful time. This property was easy to book. The owner was communicative, responsive, and easy to work with. This property is out there, which is what we were looking for. Just be prepared. As other reviewers mentioned, you leave the small town of Dolores and travel for another hour down a paved and well-graded dirt road. Cell service with Verizon was an issue, but there is a spot 2 miles away to make calls, if needed. AT&T works on or near the property. There is a general store that sells ice, fishing gear, limited groceries, and alcohol. The property is near Groundhog Lake and the surrounding mountains. We were able to catch several trout and cook them that evening for dinner. The forest roads provide access to amazing vistas that we will remember for a long time. This property has four cabins in a reasonable distance from each other. We visited when there weren’t any leaves on the trees, and we could see and hear the other cabins. It was still sufficiently secluded. The property was clean, easy to find, and easy to travel around. There are so many Aspens that surround the property. It’s extremely quiet and the stars fill the sky each night. It is very difficult to find this combination of beauty, silence, and seclusion. A real treat! The cabin exceeded our expectations. It felt rustic but was also comfortable and warm. The inside was full of wood paneling, buffalo plaid, and cute touches. The beds are not the Ritz Carlton but were comfortable. The bedding kept us warm all night. The wood fireplace was a huge hit and kept the entire cabin comfortably warm even when the weather was in the 30s. The cabin was well stocked with everything we needed including firewood, utensils, seasoning, foil, bathroom amenities, board games, and everything we needed. Becky and her partner were incredible. They were so friendly. We arrived at the property late at night after traveling all day from the Phoenix metro area and our cabin was nice and toasty with the fire going. Their dogs were very friendly, and our dogs enjoyed exploring the property and playing with them. This made the trip so much more enjoyable. They had great info of the surrounding area and were always friendly and helpful. It was an absolute pleasure meeting them.

The bear that came looking for steak.
My main requirements were for remote location and rustic cabin. This cabin met both those things with log cabin, open rafters, wood plank walls and kitchen flooring. Living area had nice stone tiles. The designer bedding might ruin my reputation but who will know? Be prepared for most outlets were 7 feet above the floor and kitchen had hot water running from both hot and cold spigot (not a problem since cold water was supplied in 3 gallon jug for cooking and in bathroom). Also, I loved the remote location but bring your groceries as stores are 35 mile drive on mostly gravel road (small convenience store mostly snack food and beverage at the resevoir). Only real concern has to do with visit by black bear looking for food. I live in the city and never experienced bears firsthand until one woke me during the night scooting chairs to get to propane grill on the porch where I had cooked steak. This picture is of a different cabin as mine had a window next to the bed nearest the grill. I scared him away with a bright trak light and slapping the wood walls. Then I put the sofa up against the door as that door would not stop a bear looking for more food or trash can in the kitchen. Fair to say I was not taken totally by surprise as the care taker's cabin was visited two nights before. She gave me advice and a can of pepper spray in case I should meet one while out in the woods. Over all, I enjoyed my stay.

A Real Get Away!
The cabin actually looks better in reality than the pics on VRBO indicates (hence the 4-Star on that one). Becky was great. Her dog, Mollie, is an awesome, beautiful shepherd mix. I was expecting more of a desert feel but the high altitude terrain (around 8,800') and mountain ranches are beautiful. The incredible Aspen here are unlike anywhere else I've been in CO. Some of which I wouldn't be able to wrap my arms around. You can see them for miles! This whole area has to be absolutely surreal in the Autumn with all the color. We rented a fishing boat one day & fished at Groundhog Lake & caught a couple of Rainbow Trout for dinner one night. Mmmmm...so good! Another day, we headed to Mesa Verde National Park. Took about 90 min to get there. The drive is slower but the distance isn't too far. There was no one at MVNP... on a SATURDAY! I guess that's one benefit of this COVID hiccup. We got to see a lot there. Some things at the park were closed, like the visitor center and the Balcony House hike. We didnt have to fight any crowds at all, which is unheard of at this park. There's a lot to do around here... or... if you're disconnecting... that's very easy to do here, too, and very much appreciated. This cabin features a great deck to hang out on, with a nice, efficient gas grill, rustic wood interior, it's own bathroom with shower, a picnic table and a fire pit with wood to burn. We were here during the full moon. If you came out during the New Moon, it would be a starry night to remember for sure. One night we went to Groundhog Lake, set up our camp chairs and watched the sun set. Turned 'em around & watched the moon rise. Was fantastic. I have Verizon. No connection here. My gf has Sprint and she had connection. Another awesome amenity... NO TV! We highly recommend it here. Thanks, Becky!

This secluded piece of property was truly phenomenal! Becky Lynn was fabulous to correspond with and willing to meet any need we had; however, the place was so well stocked, we had no needs! We saw wildlife and had morning coffee with the best view of nature! Cabin was very clean and even stocked with reading material, games, puzzles, etc. If you cans with some groceries, you could stay with no need to leave, if you want to just escape from the day to say rat race of your busy life!

Remote Getaway
Our family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cabin. The cabin was very comfortable and located on a quiet lot surrounded by Aspens. We enjoyed the fire pit in the evenings and the close proximity to Groundhog Lake. The remote location behooves travelers to come well equipped with food/beverages, although there is a camp store at the lake. The owner, Becky, was on site and a wonderful host. My kids didn’t want to leave.
