Wonderfully charming
This is a most unique property and we loved it! It appears to be a renovated old hunting lodge. We were three families and it easily accommodated us. Robert was helpful and easy-going. The house itself is pretty big with a 2 acre lake in the back and feeding stations - we were treated to raccoons and deer at night. The furnishings were out of your great grandparents antique store and comfortable. The master bedroom is massive with a fireplace. The kitchen is more than adequate and the living area is massive with a long table and a TV viewing area - btw, everything worked well. The other bedrooms are all connected so you have to travel through one to get to the other. All-in-all, we'd stay here again. It was a real treat and I would recommend to anyone who craves visiting a venue that reminds them of their great grandparent's home.

Christmas @ the Retreat
Our family celebrated Christmas at the Retreat on Lake Siesta. The place was absolutely PERFECT for the 11 of us. Each family had their own room(s) and there were plenty of restroom facilities. Although the weather was predicted to be terrible, we lucked out and it was perfect and allowed for a 'Santa Visit' - which was SPECTACULAR! The lake provided fun and entertainment for all. We enjoyed every aspect of this property and had a wonderful time. The owner was extremely accommodating and even brought us a fire pit to roast marshmallows.

Great space, but there are some quirks!
The house was nice and had just about everything we could have hoped for - enough trash bags, paper towels, plastic utensils and paper plates/bowls. Plenty of towels, soaps, etc. for the showers. Bob was accommodating and kind and let us check out a couple of hours late. There are just a few things we wish we had known before: 1) All of the rooms are connected! Each bedroom leads to another bedroom and another and so on. Along with that, not all rooms are on central AC making it hard to provide adults privacy in their own bedrooms (you have to leave the door open to cool it from the other room). This was challenging for our group of mostly adult couples. 2) Some of the rooms are hot even with the AC on full blast, especially the rooms cooled through an open door from the other room. 3) The wifi was incredibly slow. We wanted to do a slideshow of our engagement photos for our family and couldn’t even open them up for viewing from our cloud drive. Overall this place accommodated our group of 17 pretty well without needing the screened in porch. Just a few inconveniences that we had to deal with. Bob being an involved and generous host made a huge difference though!

LaGrange Cabin Birthdays
We arrived and host greeted us and gave us the tour, everyone arrived and selected their beds/rooms! Other than a mouse and plugged toilet, we all enjoyed the weekend. The boats were a hit with the kids, as well as the property in general. Lots of room to spread out!

Adventure for the Grandkids
My husband and I hosted 3 children and their spouses along with 11 kiddos between 1 and 16. There was plenty of space but limited privacy. Kids loved fishing, watching the wildlife and roaming the wooded area. We had a great time and would not hesitate to return.

Great stay!
My family really had a great time at this lodge! The master suite is very nice, private and comfortable. The rest of the sleeping areas were good for a large group of people, although it’s unique in that the rooms are all connected such that you have to pass through from one room to another or use one of the exterior doors (there’s no interior hallway). That’s just a little quirk, but workable. The kitchen is small but pretty well stocked. The great room had lots of sitting area and lots to do, with one long dining table and several smaller ones. The covered patio is great! And then you have a variety of charcoal and wood grills/smoker to work with for outdoor cooking. The private lake is really nice and peaceful. If a nice and peaceful getaway that can accommodate a good size group, this is a great spot!

Thanksgiving/Birthday Celebration
We celebrated my husband’s birthday over Thanksgiving week and this lodge exceeded our expectations! Bob greeted my family outside and provided a tour upon arrival. Very friendly! There was plenty of room for everyone and we never felt crowded (9 adults, 4 children). Love that each family had their own space/restroom. The lodge was very clean and organized so we felt comfortable. There were hand sanitizers in each room and placed on tables throughout which was really appreciated. The canoes and pond were the perfect addition to our stay. Everyone enjoyed some light fishing/canoeing and just relaxing outside. Highly recommended! Definitely planning another stay in the future!

Unique and Spacious Getaway
Our stay at the Lodge was fantastic! The area was nicely secluded, plenty of rooms/beds to sleep in, everything was clean and Bob was very informative and helpful with tips like how to work the AC and where the light switches are, etc. The house is full of character and unique decor, you can be sure to notice something new each time you enter a room. The long dining table was great for seating our group of 9, and then some which made it perfect for our Friendsgiving. I also loved that the cabin is pet friendly, our dogs had a great time. Would definitely return.

Great place for a small family reunion
Started off with a very pleasant and thorough walk thru with the owner. He gave us a nice overview and lots of insight into the property and some of its history. It was a very hot day so the A/C took a little while to kick in but overall we were comfortable. Plenty of places to sleep and the teens and Kids loved the big open bedroom! We took a few canoe rides and kids enjoyed the small water feature/pond. Kitchen was well equipped though somewhat small, but we prepared some large meals rather easily. Check out instructions were clear and simple. Will definitely return!

Perfect Weekend!
The Lodge provided the space for a wonderful and relaxing weekend getaway for our family and friends. Upon arrival, we explored the various rooms and were drawn to all the different decorations and trinkets that gave the every inch its own personality. The backyard complete with a private pond, fire pit, and barbecue equipment made for a perfect Saturday afternoon! Throughout the day and especially at night we got to enjoy the sight of the wildlife in the area. Bob was incredibly understanding and flexible and made the check-in and check-out process a breeze. I would definitely stay again, already looking forward to my next stay here!

Bob was very friendly and gave us a great walk thru of the property when we got there. The property is very neat and every room is full of fun, cool decorations and mounts. We stayed here for a wedding that wasn't to far from the property, and it was very easy to get to and from. Highly recommend this place!

A great family reunion at The Lodge...
For the second time we gathered our extended family (5 adult sons, three daughters-in-law, and five grandchildren, plus 3 grand-dogs) for a three night stay at The Lodge. Our kids and grandkids actually asked to go back, and we all enjoyed the second visit as much or more than the first. Bonus: One grandson and one daughter-in-law each caught their first fish and the john-boat got a lot of use. Had a raging fire in the fireplace the first two nights, and then got to use the very nice air conditioners the third night -- only in Texas!!! The house is extremely well-stocked. The decor can best be described as "rustic", but that's the way we like it.

Great choice for a family gathering of 15 for Thanksgiving
This is a sprawling, rustic cabin on a three acre lot with plenty of space for family comfort and fun. The layout includes two 2-bedroom apartments each with private bath, one very large "dormitory" type room with 5-6 beds and a private bath, a spacious and private master BR with private bath, and a huge living/dining/great room area with loads of tables, chairs, sofas, etc. (with yet another half bath.) This living/dining area was a great space for family gathering and activities such as games, etc., and a long dining room table accommodated our entire group for Thanksgiving dinner. There is even a huge screen porch with a king-sized bed which our daughter-in-law described as "like camping, but comfortable." The owner was gracious enough to provide an electric blanket for that bed, since one couple insisted on sleeping out there and the temperature dripped into the 40's at night. Although the kitchen is not roomy or fancy, it is well-equipped and we were able to prepare a Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings for 15, plus many other meals over three days. This is like a hunting cabin on steroids. Lots of cowhide rugs, mounted animal heads and fish on the walls, country antique store stuff, etc. The feel is rustic but the amenities are not -- multiple wide-screen HDTVs, wi-fi, etc. The property includes frontage on a two-acre bass lake and access to a john boat, a canoe, life-preservers, etc. Our grandkids really enjoyed the lake and just exploring in the woods behind the house. The fact that this property is pet friendly was another bonus, and our kids brought a total of three dogs who all had a great time. If you are looking for something fancy and citified, this is not your best option, but that isn't what we were looking for. All five of our sons said as we were departing that they would gladly return to this lodge for another holiday.

Loved the place! Location is remote and peaceful, host was welcoming and very accommodating.
Absolutely love this house and will be coming back. The location was perfect for our family weekend get together and we all had a blast. Whether it was from the amazing hospitality from the host, animal and bird watching from the living room seating, to fishing for bass in the provided canoe and jon boats, to the eclectic interior decor there is no doubt that your family will love this place as much as we did. Thanks to Mr. Stiles for blessing our stay with his hospitality!!
