WATERFRONT! *******(Currently due to the severe draught this property doesn't have it's waterfront status)*********Some places in area are waterfront, but the shore is steep and dangerous. Not at this piece of paradise! Lakehouse lot is gradual descent to water on paved path into a quiet cove great for swimming or fishing. House has amazing views and plenty of space for everyone. Great for enjoying lake life or getting a quiet getaway for yoga on the upper deck or down by the water. 4 kayaks are also available to use and a short ride over to stunning high cliff walls. WiFi is fast


If you are planning to use the downstairs bunk room, it is a good idea to go ahead and turn on the a/c window unit so it can cool down. The ceiling fan is helpful as well.

Lake House Departure checklist

If you’ve moved any furniture or belongings, please put them back in their original places
Take out all trash (there are trash bags under the kitchen sink). You can put trash in the bins at the top of the driveway near the road by the garage)
Pack up or throw away food in the kitchen, including in the fridge
Load and run the dishwasher
Pile dirty kitchen linens on the kitchen floor
Make sure appliances, electronics, and heating/cooling equipment such as the range, toaster oven, coffee maker, TV, fans, etc., are turned off.
Check that the gas grill is off
Check throughout the house (including under the beds, in drawers, and around all electrical outlets) for any personal items.

Very relaxing and comfortable
Vacation with family. Plenty of room. Lake was low but didn’t have to walk to far for waterfront. If lake was high, would be very convenient for the Kayaks, that are included. Just needed to provide extra paper towels, TP and trash bags. Ran out. Plenty of towels, which was nice. Would stay again.

Family getaway
Clean home, nicely updated and nice layout. Back deck is my favorite. Nice view of the water. Several kayaks that we all used to explore the lake and float. Nice access to lake. Kitchen is nicely stocked as well. We have stayed several times. Everyone has a great time.

Family lake get away for a 90th birthday
We were at Canyon Lake August 21-25-2023 in this great house. Very clean on the inside and had everything we needed except a wine opener, but we did pack one. Kitchen was well equipped with what we needed. Couches comfy, had blankets and a tv and everything we needed. My husband and I stayed in the upstairs large room. . Everything was great, but just know that the wall air conditioner unit is loud. The steps to this room are a little steep so you just need to be careful. My daughter and son in law stayed on the main level in the queen bedroom and it was great! The bunk bedroom in the main house was great for our 1 and 3 year old. My son stayed in the lower room with his choice of bunk beds and was spacious and stayed cool. The kitchen and living space was great for 7 people. The outside area for us was not safe for young kids or older people because the stairs up to the house are a little sketchy. I’m thinking because of the Texas heat drying the wood out. You just have to be careful. Great being on the water cause we did some fishing but since the lake was so down because of the heat in Texas, we did not take out the kayaks. Great to have them for renters ! The driveway is a slope fyi. Thank you Moores for opening your lakefront house to us! We so appreciate you allowing our four legged family members! They enjoyed watching the deer , squirrels and birds and so did we! We will definitely rent again ! Great get away for my dads 90th birthday! Thanks again!!

Beautiful escape from the city
We came from Houston for a last minute trip before the kids would return to school. The property was amazing. Be aware that it is indeed waterfront property, but, it is definitely a hike down towards the beach like cove. Great for kids and kayak water access. The home was beautiful and accommodating. Tons of amenities and everything in it's place. My family was very comfortable. The kids loved being able to see deer on the property every day. The property owners were very pleasant and completely accessible. We can't wait to visit this property again!

Everything great except one thing
Only thing wrong was the water was lower than expected. We were still able to access the water with some difficulty. The lake reached record lows of 13ft I believe. The property itself was perfect, property owners responded in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend.

Good spot
Awesome access to lake, close to area that boats go to, called Party Cove. Area very peaceful and quiet. Amazing and nice to hang out in evening for cook out. And in the morning for sunrise. Very cost effective for location.

Spectacular inside and out
The house was amazing. It had everything we needed for our week long stay with our large family. The house is very spacious that we never felt like we were on top of each other. It is laId out perfectly. The views are spectacular from inside the house and outside from the very large patio. Plenty of seating for everyone. Can’t forget the deer that loved to be hand fed. Would definitely stay here again.

Long weekend
Our family stayed for a long weekend over the NY weekend and the location is great. It's right on the water and the weather was great for kayaking and hanging out, and the neighborhood was nice was taking leisurely walks. I rated lower on cleanliness because of the outdoor furniture on the deck, the patio furniture by the water which was moldy and kayaks which were not well maintained. I did not have any concerns about cleanliness inside the home and felt comfortable there.

Structurally Unsound Home Hosted by the "Rental Nazi"
I write this review as a warning to others as this property is structurally unsound and dangerous. The deck--which sits about 40 feet off the rocky ground leading to the lake below--sits on long support beams, one of which is bending severely and looks ready to break. One member of our party who's a real estate developer said that it was definitely unsafe and would not pass inspection. Accordingly, we were too afraid to use the deck, which comprises a key feature of the home (which does have a beautiful view of Canyon Lake). The home also cannot sleep 13 as advertised. The house is quite small and consists of one main level, which has 2 bedrooms and an attic repurposed as a bedroom, each of which can sleep 2. The downstairs "bedroom" is not accessible from the house. You need to walk outside and down a flight of stairs from the deck to the garage area to access the lower level. The lower level has two bunkbeds and sleeps 4, not 6 (unless you cram 2 people in one bunk). Note also that the downstairs area is not connected to the air conditioning. Instead, it has a window unit that does not work. All the toilets were broken as well. My last comment is about the owner. From the start, we knew there would be a problem when he refused to provide the access code until minutes prior to check in. We drove to Canyon Lake from Houston (3 hours), and as we drove I tried to contact the owner multiple times to let him know we had not yet received the code. Minutes before we arrived, he provided the code. To be fair, we arrived about 30 minutes before 4pm check-in, but it was a harrowing experience making that long drive not knowing whether this guy forgot about us. We were not able to check in until 4:30 pm, however, because the maids were still cleaning, so we sat outside in the car. Really fun after driving 3 hours to get there! I could forgive the late check-in and the last-minute sending of the access code if it wasn't for the owner's horrible attitude. He sent several nasty grams because we left one cardboard box and a toy wrapper (we stayed over Christmas and had lots of boxes and toys). We were attacked for lighting a fire in the firepit down by the lake and not picking up all the ashes. He stated no fires allowed, though we used his wood and his firepit. We were also chided for not removing all sheets/bedding from the beds. His missives were way more aggressive than warranted. I have no doubt this review will be met with retaliation by the owner.

Great College Reunion
We had 7 women in our group gathering for our 40th College Reunion (can anyone say: GO BOBCATS?) The house was so lovely for our stay. Ryan was great with answering all of our pre-planning questions and was quick to fix one minor issue we had while we were there. The house is comfy lake style. You will feel right at home and have everything you need to cook, relax and have fun. The Kayaks were an added bonus and the cove was great for hanging out and swimming. There is also a really great Italian restaurant just 10 minutes from the house. Couple of things to keep in mind: There are a lot of stairs so some people may have trouble getting down to the water. But the path is great and secure. ( Bonus: Good exercise going back to the house:) The loft bedroom has a separate entrance from the house(below). Again, no problem for us but good to know for some families. And there is a big step down going into the loft bedroom to watch out for. Thanks Ryan and family for sharing your home with us and a wonderful weekend!

Peaceful retreat
We really enjoyed our stay. The house had plenty of room for our family of 7 plus a few friends. Lots of utensils, nice apppliances only thing we missed was a blender but next time we will bring our own. We like frozen drinks 😀We hung out on the upper patio and below at the waters edge as much as possible. Everyone enjoyed the easy access to the lake. We rented a boat and jet skis and brought them right below the house to trade out people. I would definitely recommend this listing and we plan to come back!

The home was just as pictured. It was like being at home with everything we could possibly need for our stay on hand. The lake access is beautiful and our kids had the most enjoyable time kayaking, fishing, and swimming in the lake. I would definitely recommend the Moore Lake house for your stay!!! The property is exactly as you see it in the pictures if not better! Everything was clean when we arrived and all the beds were comfortable. Nice path down to the lake. We had a little incident with a box fan and was able to work it out with Ryan. We had guest ranging from 1 to 62 and everyone had a great time, thank you!

Family Oasis
Thank you to the Moore Family for hosting our family getaway! Their property is beautiful and well maintained. The view is spectacular- wake up close to sunrise and enjoy the morning on the deck. Enjoy the sunset and play some music with their outdoor speakers. We had so much fun on the kayaks! We will highly recommend for our friends looking for a lake getaway!
