A good pit stop

This hotel is usually my go to stop when I am traveling on Hwy 395. The pool area is great and the rooms are clean and comfortable. They had an issue with the boiler while I was there and offered to cancel the reservation or give my 30% off which was nice. And they called to let me know ahead of time so I could decide what I wanted to do.

We prefer to stay in motels when we travel by car, and have experienced many different levels of service and quality. The Vagabond in Bishop is charming, and well maintained. Service was efficient and all employees were helpful cheerful. The workspace and vanity shelf are large enough to accommodate the toiletries of two travelers. The windows actually open far enough to let in a breeze, but the blackout curtains are effective for those who like to sleep in in the AM. The morning breakfast is the typcial fruit, cereal, toast, and juice, with plentiful coffee. The beds were comfortable. Sensitive folks my find the plastic cover on the mattress a bit noisy when turning over, but most would not be aware of it. Like all first floor rooms in motels everywhere, we could hear occasional footsteps and sounds from the room above, but, though the motel was completely booked, we never heard anything from the rooms on either side.

The staff was very helpful in suggesting a side street for my truck & 24’ trailer, which had no chance of fitting in their parking lot, which is meant for cars. I parked on a side street adjacent the motel and it worked out great. Very good manager.

Even though it's older, this hotel is well-kept and clean. The Dennys next door is very convenient.

No hot water

The room was very clean, and comfortable, but there was 0 hot water. Was informed on check in that there was “lukewarm” only water available, but that was not true.
