Check-in and check-out process was pretty easy. The complimentary breakfast buffet was good and offered variety. The light in my room was a bit odd. The bathroom and bedroom area lights only turned on when I had the light for the entryway on.

Problematic start in Berlin
One of my favourite hotels in Berlin for design, convenience, transport access, location etc. Refurbished 2 years ago. Nice rooms (generally, but see my later comments), good Wi-Fi, nice breakfast buffet, modern, clean and tidy. This trip, however, did not start off well! Due to the European football championships, the rooms were at a high price and I booked a 'Studio' for 4 nights with my wife. Upon arrival we were given the largest Studio, which even included a small kitchenette - room 246, a quirkily shaped room but we were very pleased with its presentation, size etc. My 1 worry even before entering the room was that it was located right next to the extended 24-hour access fitness room! I expressed my concern to the receptionist but was told it wouldn't pose a problem. We agreed to try it for 1 night but would probably want to move for the following nights. Unfortunately it became abundantly clear that this would indeed be a problem due to heavy 'free weights' being dropped on the floor. We expressed our dissatisfaction and asked to be moved immediately. Another, smaller, studio was found on floor 5 but upon entering, we noticed a smell of stale smoke so had to reject this one too. After no little 'discussion' we finally negotiated a free upgrade to the 1-bed aprtment on floor 6, which was, surprisingly. available for our stay. Problem solved but with lots of trouble, which spoiled the start to our stay. Why put a gym next to a premium guest room or any room?
