If you want to a cost-efficient accommodation near Bar Harbor for a few nights, the Colonial Inn Ellsworth will do the job. Some rooms are renovated while others are in need of a facelift. If you get a renovated room, your stay will be more enjoy able. Staff was helpful and friendly. Breakfast is appreciated and was just what someone needs for a quick fix.

Booked 3 nights stay, a terrible 3 nights! The room smelled cigarettes when a non-smoking room was booked. The bathtub did not drain and the staff was rude enough to say "why is that a problem?". Such a disrespectful staff. The heater did not function and the air conditioning right next to bed blows air directly on face.

The room we stayed in (annex) was very clean and appeared to have gone thru a renovation. What I was concerned about was the envelope given with the key-it's first instruction was to make sure you used the lock and to report any suspicious activity. Made me wonder what happened to invoke that type of statement! No lock on side doors.
