Disappointed
Hello. We booked the bunkhouse for two nights. Left because it was not a comfortable stay. One purpose for our getaway was rest and a good night's sleep, so we were drawn to the quiet charm promised in the VRBO ad. Alas, there was music from a nearby bar. The window a/c unit cycled every few seconds, interrupting our sleep, and it never consistently cooled the place. It would have been very helpful to have an information sheet in the house, where we could find the wifi instructions (we never got them) and general tips about the house's quirks, like the odd placement of the bathroom light switch near the front door, and contact information for the host so that we could address our concerns and needs. (Some of us do not want the VRBO app on our phones and prefer not to vacation with our computers.) Also, the VRBO ad showed soap as a bathroom amenity, but the large Dove soap bottle present was empty, so we had to shower with shampoo. I must mention, too, that there was only one pillow comfortable enough for us, and when I tried to shift a shammed pillow to use, there was no pillow protector, and the pillow itself was covered in old saliva stains, which, as you can imagine, was unappealing and generally icky. I didn't dare look at the other pillows or the mattress. In general, the bunkhouse is a converted shed or structure with some country charm, but the lack of comforts and basic communication sours it.
