Beautiful Relaxing and Teen Friendly

Went with my niece and nephew. They had a blast with the pool, swimming and snorkeling in the private cove and playing tennis. There is even a playground for smaller kids. The views were spectacular and we spotted more than a few deer wandering around the grounds. Golf cart was essential and the one that came with the unit was in good shape. It was a blast. They even want to go again!!

Amazing views!

We recently stayed here for our anniversary! The views were so amazing! The included golf cart was brand new and very nice! Private beach was awesome. My only complaints would be that there is no A/C ( we went on the hottest weekend) and there are ants in the kitchen. Like lots of ants. If you leave any signs of food or drink, they are everywhere. Overall we had an amazing stay and I will definitely stay here again.

Good time

….With one exception. The cart was horrible. The fumes were overwhelming. We only used it twice to get us to town and then out to buy gas. The upholstery is very worn, the paint is coming off all over and the worst is the windshield. It is so badly sun damaged, one cannot see through to bright lights at night. The surface is very damaged. The condo was clean and ok. Tv was very difficult to operate. Other than the cart, our stay was both ok and fun.

Good and Bad

The property was as expected. Unfortunately, the company who rented to us were not on the ball! They said they’d be open on Christmas, our check in date and when we arrived at the office at 11am, there was a young man on call who was trying to check people in but no paperwork had been left for him. He did his best but we received no check-in packet, just 2 sets of keys. We got directions to the condo from the guard at the gate. The condo appeared to be clean, however, it was very cold. We immediately turned on the 3 old fashioned thermostats. They didn’t work so we called the help line. The man who answered asked all kinds of questions and then told me to plug in a little heater. I did and it blew the fuse! I called back and got a different man and explained everything to him. He kept telling me to try this and try that! We also had no lighting in the bedroom! We don’t understand why the fuse box is in the “locked” owners closet. It seems we argued about all the problems until he relented and said he’d interrupt his Xmas to come turn on the fuse and get electricity to the bedroom. We didn’t need the guilt of it being Xmas. He talked to the owner who said there were issues with the electric. We went to dinner and he came and did his thing. He said the extension cord under the bed was unplugged. My husband is 80 and I’m over 60 so neither of us would have figured that out and certainly couldn’t get under the bed! Everything got figured out with the heat so we were comfortable, at last! My recommendation to CIVR is a better check system for their rentals. Everything should be in working order and they should use a checklist. Also, thorough explanation of electricity glitches should be included in their handbook and there should be access to the fuse box. Since I didn’t get a check-in packet, I had no idea what the wi-fi password was! Finally found it on the mantel! Should be in the handbook for easy access. If they are going to rent places on holidays then they should be there and ready to check in. The poor guy that checked us in had no paperwork left for him so it wasn’t a good start to our vacation! And the ending wasn’t very special either. When we turned in our keys, there were 2 people in the office on Sunday, the 29th. They just took my keys, didn’t say boo, no thank you or how was your stay and did the same to the next lady! When we inquired whether there was anything else we needed to do they said “that’s it”.

Unfortunately the view is the only good thing about this place.

Disappoinment compared to the privately owned place we stayed at in Hamilton Cove last time we were on the island. The view is great and the bed is comfortable, but the place needs significant updating. For the amount of money that you are paying, the place should be much nicer and cleaner. The walls need painting, floors tile needs to be steam cleaned or replaced, the bathroom shower needs to have the doors replaced and the molded caulking removed, the cushions on the chairs need to be reupholstered, the moldings need to be nailed to the wall, the couch needs to be cleaned and on and on. With a little work this place could look as good as the view and make the 70 steps UP from the street as well as the price easier to deal with. If the place was updated we would definitely stay there again.

Nice view bring your stair legs.

We really enjoy Catalina. This unit is in Hamilton's cove, which is really far from everything. But the community is nice and pretty quiet. Being in a gated community was nice. We enjoyed the tiny private beach, but be prepared with some kind of water shoes because it's all rocks there. The front door sticks really hard so be prepared to put your shoulder into it with all your might. The golf cart was really nice to have, practically a necessity in Hamilton's cove because it's so far from town center and any restaraunts or shopping. But the cart needs some maintenance. The exhaust is really gassy smelling. And the rain cover does not button up properly. Many of the straps and snaps for it are missing or broken. It is really efficient on fuel though. The kitchen floor tile is stained, as are the kitchen chairs. The kitchen has everything we needed to prepare our simple meals. And two fans are in the unit as there is no AC in this unit (common for Catalina). The patio has an amazing view of the ocean. The seat cushions at the patio table could use replacing, but I would rather have faded ripped cushions than none at all. Overall this rental was pretty nice. But for the money, I would expect better maintenance.

Great view/location; needs update

We really enjoyed staying at Hamilton cove and the view was fantastic. The villa itself can use updating. When I spend a lot of money per night, I expect an updated villa. The dining table chairs have dirty cushions. The closet needs paint. The floor tiles are dirty/stained. The bathroom is old/outdated. The golf cart was very rundown. The turn indicators are hanging off the side of the cart by a wire. The cart is old and needs some maintenance. The villa served it's purpose for location/view but not worth high rates. Also no air conditioning made for very hot and uncomfortable nights during our stay

Fantastic location

We spent 3 nights in this condo. It was great that we got to use the golf cart, we drove all around - these are $45 + per hour in the town, so that was a good deal. We drove around a lot, into town several times and only spent $6 on gas! The view from the balcony was amazing. The balcony is shared with all 4 condo's on that level so you could be outside with your neighbors right next to you. The kitchen was fully equipped but we didn't really use it as there are so many restaurants. We didn't use the pool/tennis or mini golf areas. No pool towels included though. We drove into town the last day and dropped our luggage off at the pier ($6 for a day) and drove the cart back to the condo and then walked back into town - downhill thank goodness (took us 15 minutes). Otherwise it's a $20 cab fare. Wouldn't want to walk back as it's uphill. Did a good hike up into the hills one day, took us around 4 hours and we had great views. We took a tour of the casino, well worth it. Also toured the museum of catalina - a little lacking if you ask me. Didn't do any water sports as it was a little cool. Shopping was a little disappointing.
