Needs serious updating
We were very excited about staying at this home in Avalon but were very disappointed. Number one problem - horrible beds. Why owners of short term rentals do not understand the importance of a good bed is beyond my comprehension. In general the whole home was kid of rundown and there were security issues with windows that couldn't be locked or opened very easily. There are too many other wonderful properties in Avalon to go there and be disappointed by this home. Just updated the beds and make it secure!

Small Cottage that has the smell of the 70'S and the Furniture Smelled like feet. The couch was so dirty we spent 60$ on towels to cover the couch so that we could sit down and try and watch tv, the throw pillows for the couch were filthy and stained. The TV was so outdated it doesn't connect to Wi-Fi so all we could do is watch the local News that repeated over and over. The beds and furniture was old, the carpet was dirty. The worst part was that the Trash was piled up in three trash cans behind the home right up under the larger bedroom window. The smell was horrific. We had to push the trash can across the alley in order not the smell it. The rental office text the next day and apologized and said the trash gets picked up once per week and they asked if we would like them to bring plug in's so the smell wouldn't be so bad. Plug In's how about a refund? Our Stay was so horrible we slept on top of the towels we bought. We booked another room, and they came and picked us up. This was by far the worst rental I have ever encountered in all my years of traveling.

Overall the property was really beautiful! One thing I would suggest is to fix the door handle of the restroom as it didn’t close. Another thing was that few of the heaters didn’t really work.

Avalon Stay
The location of this property was wonderful and the check in process was smooth. The property itself was well equip with all the necessary items. The beds were very squeaky and hard to sleep on. There were not too many mirrors and only one tv for the entire home. The house is a little outdated. It was an okay home stay for 2 days anything longer than that would of been too much.

Location was great Enough room to sleep for our party of 7 No air conditioning but many fans to keep cool. The electrical outlets in the bedroom did not have covers. Communication was great and check in was easy

Great location, close to beach and Vons for food runs. Functional rooms, and much appreciated the clothes lines out back for hanging wetsuits after snorkeling. great family getaway.

DO NOT recommend, Poor experience overall*
The stay here wasn’t as pleasant and easygoing as expected. To start off, we had problems with the wifi as soon as we got there. In other words, there was NO internet at all. I reached out to the host the first day there and never got a message back. Our whole stay we couldn’t use the TV or our phones when we were in the house. We also had problems with the stove. It would not start when we wanted to use it and the house would start to smell like gas quickly. We needed to use a lighter to start the fire. To make matters worse there were roaches that would appear in the living room and bathroom. We were warned about an ant problem but not about roaches. We were not satisfied with our rental experience and customer service. I reached out again privately after our stay and never got a response back.

Pretty good.
Overall, a good experience. A short walk away from the downtown area and Vons. Fun decorations, good sized living room and kitchen. The bedroom with the bunk beds is cramped and the mattresses make a lot of noise when you move around but that's not a huge issue. Only weird thing is that from the bathroom you can hear conversations in the adjacent property very clearly.

Nice little house with a couple "bugs"
The house is run by a major vacation home rental business on the island, so it's not like you're renting from an individual owner that loves and takes care of the place. While the house is stocked with basic kitchen utensils, plates, cups, etc. and the housekeeper did an EXCELLENT job, there are a couple glaring issues that I hope the owners will correct for future inhabitants. We saw 3 cockroaches in the bathroom over the course of 5 days. The fan they gave us was so dusty it looked like a prop from a horror film, which is too bad because the house needed ventilation. I ended up purchasing a fan. The fan and the bug issues are totally fixable things and if/when they are fixed the house would easily earn 4 stars. We had a great time. The house is cute and it's a short walk from some pretty great places.

Location is great, lacking in seating and kitchen wares.
We stayed for 3 nights and really enjoyed the location and walkable distance to everything. My biggest complaint is the seating. If the house sleeps 8 it should absolutely be able to seat 8 comfortably. All they have is a very dirty sofa that at best seats 3, and 3 wicker arm chairs. So 6 seats total, not including the dining chairs. Also they should have 8 dinner plates, bowls, cups & mugs that match. It was a very hodgepodge assortment of dishes. Lastly it would be great to have a few beach chairs, umbrellas & sand toys considering people are coming over on the ferry and can't bring much with them. Otherwise, the house was very clean and had plenty of bath towels. I also very much appreciated the rental company allowing us to check in early and check out late (for an additional $50). I probably would not stay here again just based on the lack of furnishings for 8 people. And really, that sofa needs a deep cleaning. It was pretty gross to sit on.

Conveniently located house, a few flaws
The bedrooms were a lot smaller than advertised. The house was extremely hot even with all the windows and doors open and all the fans on because the house doesn't have AC. A bunch of the electrical outlets didn't work. It ended up not being a good thing that they didn't have a bathtub since I have small children. Despite the house looking clean the floors were filthy, my son who crawled around on his knees had black knees after only crawling around for an hour every day. However, the location of the house was very convenient and a short walk from everything. The beds were also very comfortable. The kitchen was also upgraded and nice despite not having a dishwasher. I did think it would've been nice if they provided laundry detergent for their washer and dryer so I didn't have to buy a big container of it for two loads. They also did not provide enough toilet paper for everybody that was staying in the house so we had to buy more of that as well. It also would've been nice if the house had more windows that open and better circulation. We had to leave the front and back doors wide open in order to cool the house down and since there were no screen doors we had to use our stroller and luggage to block the doors so that our small children didn't wander out of the house.
