When we arrived at the hotel for our two night stay there were dead and live mosquitoes on the bed, in the washroom and all around the room. We messaged them right away and all they said was to send them pictures and there was bug machine in the room! There was also a can of RAID in the closet. No wonder there was dead mosquitoes all over the room. They must have sprayed it before we arrived but didn’t bother cleaning it up. First evening we were woken up in the middle of the night by a loud dripping noise on the floor. What I found was water dripping on to the floor from the AC unit up above the ceiling. I put a garbage can underneath it to catch the water. We messaged to tell them in the morning and they asked a video of the leak and then asked us when we will be checking out. After sending pictures they said they will inform the technician. Technician never came and water dripped all night again on our last night. Our room was unit No 1 standard room with grand canal view, the room looked nothing like the pictures. It was dirty and sticky. We do not recommend this hotel unless you want to be bit by mosquitoes in your sleep.

The Grand Canal Hotel is clean and conveniently located near the train station. However, our stay was disappointing. The air conditioning couldn't cool our room below 27°C, and the pre-arrival process was tedious with numerous messages, links, and a document uploads. Additionally, there is no staff on-site. Despite booking a suite, it felt more like a hostel than a hotel, with a shared common area just outside our room door. It did not meet our expectations.

Arrived at 4:20pm and room wasn’t ready for a 3pm check in. No checkin desk so had to wait as I carried 100lbs of luggage up the stairs and wasnt willing to do it twice. 1/2 hr later we get in the room. Paying almost $400 cdn and with the early checkout of 10am I expect my room to be ready for 3pm. Property refused any sort of compensation for this. Expedia gave me a $50 credit which is better than nothing. Price paid is solely for the view. Bed is hard, decor is very dated, pillows are not good. I couldn’t sit in the toilet properly because my legs are too long. Anyone over 6”4 will have to sit sideways which is not ideal. There is a safe in the room but it is not attached to anything and someone could put it under their arm and simply walk out. Having a can of raid in the linen closet is odd. 5 min walk from train station

Not worth the money!
The common room was lovely but the room itself was cold, could not get a response on how to turn heat on. There was still garbage in the bathroom, other peoples left overs in fridge and the shower is extremely small. There is no atmosphere to the room what so ever. The safe can be picked up and carried away and the doors can easily be opened with a credit card! The only good thing ws the location and the view.

The shower was ridiculously small. There was no comfortable way to point the water, so the hand held was the only way to rinse off. The toilet had little space in front, so we had to use it sideways. There was no place to put our luggage. Music from below was louder than the TV the TV faced the wrong way with no room to turn it towards the bed. There was no maid service, no staff. The upstairs stomping was obnoxious

It was a little bit of a strange experience, but a clean room and great view! Communication all happens on the day of arrival, which was a bit worrying for planning, but it all worked out great! Only downside is no AC

Last resort... Look elsewhere.
Difficult to find. Poor organisation prior. Google address is not correct. Spent the morning frustrated that the place wasn't where listed. No signage on door. Weird layout. Our bedroom had a door leading to the shared living. Adamant others listened to us have a good night.. Revived 3 emails a day for a week prior. Was travelling from Australia without a phone, was incredibly annoying and frustrating.

Terrible service, terrible room and really very strange place. Enterance is strange, called 10 times the number for asking questions and no response during working hours. Very stupid room design, some one elses luggages was in cupboard, batroom very strange and air conditioner was not working.

The stay was good, but we were unable to control the temperature in our room. When we arrived our room was at 27 degrees Celsius while outside was only 20. It was hard to fall asleep with the heat of the room, even with the window open.
