Our place is located in a great spot, directly across the street from public beach access, adjacent to sound access, and in between both bridges, which makes it easy to avoid the traffic at the south bridge, especially during the busy summer months. We have a fully stocked kitchen, as well as some games and cards. With ~1500 sq ft, 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, and a 10 person dining table, it is the perfect size for 2 families, a large family, or a group of friends, and we have free parking for up to 5 cars. Lines are included. Check-in is at 4pm and check-out is at 10am. Our place is one side of a duplex.
We (Aaron and Vickie) purchased this beach house in October of 2019, right before COVID. We completely upgraded the inside of the house with new flooring, painting, fixtures, and added some lighting. In addition to the facelift on the inside, Aaron also put in the shelves in the wall in the kitchen and all of the shelves in the closets. On the outside, he added the large storage box in the carport area and built the benches. Our neighbor across the street made the 2 deck chairs and table for us as a housewarming gift. We hope you enjoy the house as much as we do! We stayed here most of March - June in 2020, and it was a blessing to have it, especially during that time. That is why it is named Shelter in Peace.
North Topsail and the other beaches on Topsail Island (Surf City and Topsail Beach) are great little beach towns. All of the beaches are primarily residential beaches, as the island doesn't have high rise condos and hotels, so the beach is never crowded. Activities like kayaking & paddle boarding (PaddleNC https://paddlenc.com/), and putt-putt are available. The island has many restaurants and bottle shops, as well as a brewery. It is also home to a lot of natural beauty with fossilized shark teeth that wash onto shore, sand-dollars and lots of different shells. In addition, sea turtles come ashore to lay their eggs, and you can see dolphins swimming in the ocean as well as in the sound. Topsail Island is home to the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center.
The back decks (one on each floor) provide both ocean and sound views. You'll want to make sure you see at least one sunset over the sound because it is one of the best sunset views on the island. We've even seen cars stop in the road to take a picture. There are 2 connectors for hammocks on the lower dock, if you want to bring hammocks to hang up and use.
The carport area below the house has enough room for 3 vehicles, and you can also park next to the house beside the stairs. There is a large wooden storage box in the carport area, beside the hose for washing off sand, where you can store any beach chairs and toys.
The house has 4 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms.
- Upstairs Master (on suite bathroom)- Queen; ottoman converts into a twin bed with memory foam mattress
- Downstairs Master (on suite bathroom) - Queen
- Downstairs Blue Room (shared bathroom in hall) - Full
- Downstairs Purple Room (shared bathroom in hall) - Bunk bed with twin on top and full on bottom
All bedroom closets have built in shelves and a rod for hanging clothes, as well as a few hangers. All bedrooms have ceiling fans, except the bunk bed room. There are extra pillows in the closets in the bunk bed room and the Master upstairs. There are 2 AC/ heating units, one for each floor.
All of the showers have a retractable clothesline installed. This is convenient for hanging wet bathing suits. There is one hairdryer in the downstairs hall bathroom.
We have a fully stocked kitchen, with pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and appliances. Some notable items are a Keurig coffee maker, toaster oven, waffle iron, electric griddle, and blender. There is one refrigerator/ freezer combo that does have an ice maker, a stove, and a dishwasher. There are placemats available (usually on top of the refrigerator or in the cabinet to the left of the oven). There is a washer and dryer on the first floor.
Upon rental confirmation, we have a more detailed set of information that we will share with you.
