Our room was compact and comfortable and clean; this is not a full service hotel, but a boutique of 11 rooms on 3 floors; during our stay there was no breakfast, no lobby amenities and no staffing at the front desk; and the service we received -- generally through WhatsApp -- was friendly and well-intentioned. It is in a terrific location by St. Peter's and we had a view of St. Peter's dome from our room. If the price is right for your budget, we would highly recommend this clean and safe place to stay. If you're looking for a full-service hotel, this is not the right choice for you. We are grateful to the folks who took such great care of us!

More of an AirBnB apartment block than a hotel. Has residents living in the building, and reception consists of a table in a small room. Not quite what was expected from the description. The room was fine with a nice en suite and TV. No kettle for tea and coffee which would have been appreciated. Didn’t see the ‘restaurant’ when we stayed. As I said, more of an apartment block where they obviously rent out a few rooms and call it a hotel. Expensive for what we got, although we’re in a city so it may have been equally expensive elsewhere. The positives - location was great, a few minutes walk from the Vatican. Close to a metro stop and the metro is easy to use. The manager was helpful and nice.

Clean comfortable hotel in a great location near the Vatican. A friendly young man working the desk, (and an aspiring actor), helped us to our room, even running up 5 flights of stairs when the elevator was full. Everyone we met in this hotel was friendly and helpful. Free breakfasts were discontinued, which should be updated in the listing.

Great location, just a few minutes walk to St. Peter’s square, metro stop and the Vatican museum. Bed was firm, I loved that. Walls are very thin, we could hear the people in the next room talking and their tv. Shower is tiny, barely room for one person.

We were having a nightmare of a trip until we arrived in Rome. Amalia is the perfect hotel for exploring the area of the Vatican. The rooms are cozy, just for sleeping. Bathrooms are clean and comfortable and updated. Everything is located just steps away, from shopping to eating, to the Vatican City. Rodolfo was so kind and helpful and we are so grateful to have found this little gem in Rome!

The hotel is quite hard to find, it doesnt have big sign outside. Just a small plaque on the wall in between castrioni Caffe and Dal Toscada restaurant. Its like a multi use building with full time residents. I dont know how many rooms they have but My room was in 5th flr. The building is old and classic and have an oldfashioned elevator. The room was clean but for the three nights I was there, nobody cleaned my room and even emptied the trash. Im pretty sure they will clean it if I asked them, but i did not leave the dont disturb sign on the door so I assumed everyday that they will clean. They just hang a bag of new towels and toilet paper by the door daily. The AC was not cold. The entrance to St. Peters Square in Vatican is about 5 minutes walk. I got a view of the dome from my room. I know this is out of their control, but the hotel is right by a busy street so it gets loud all day up to late at night. So if you are a light sleeper, it will be hard to get some good sleep.

Excellent location, Ortaviano-St. Peter's metro station 2 blocks away, Vatican 5 blocks. King size bed mattress hard (not firm) and wafer thin pillows. Room and bathroom large, good air conditioner. 5 nite stay during reduced services w COVID, a Kwik Fon call and had towels/sheets/tissue quickly. No breakfast, so we received a hot water pot for our morning coffee. Fridge was nice to hold misc drinks and such from nearby stores. I would return.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Amalia Vaticano. It is very conveniently located near the Vatican and the Metro. The staff were friendly and accommodating and the room was great. Plenty of space, big comfortable bed, and a very nice bathroom with a terrific shower. I would definitely stay there again.

Great location just steps from the Vatican St Peters Square and Museum! Lots of great restaurants, gelato shops, a Castroni shop (with lots of great Italian goodies right next door) and small souvenir shops right outside the hotel (incl €1 shops). The front desk staff were super friendly and very helpful. The room was older and classic in feel and enough for 3 people (adults) with a double and single bed with beautiful view of St. Peter Basilica dome. The only downside were thin pillows and towels but I supposed we. Like have asked for more! The elevator is a little small as prob all European hotels and could only fit 2 people with luggage probably. The room has a secure safe, small fridge, and great AC. The hotel is 2 blocks from the Ottaviano metro stop and convenient to get to from the Termini central station (5 stops).
