Flights to Sweden
The Kingdom of Sweden is located in Northern Europe on the Scandinavian peninsula. By area, it's the third-largest country in the EU, but due to its low population density, it only has 9.4 million residents. Flights to Sweden are booked by tourists throughout the year, with most visitors arriving through the two airports supporting the Swedish capital city of Stockholm. Both flights and hotel rooms can be reserved using ebookers to find the lowest available prices.
Airport Information
The two largest Swedish airports are Stockholm-Arlanda Airport 25 miles to the southeast of Uppsala and Stockholm-Skavsta Airport 63 miles to the southwest of the capital city. Stockholm-Arlanda is capable of handling over 19 million passengers a year, while Stockholm-Skavsta can accommodate over 2.5 million passengers.
Transportation from Swedish Airports
Due to the length of the distance between the airports and Stockholm, travelling into the city can be time consuming. The Arlanda express can take you directly from Stockholm-Arlanda Airport to the Stockholm central station in 20 minutes at a cost of about 260 SEK. Bus service is available from Flygbussarna, Swebus and SL for a reduced fee but at greater travel times. You can also take a taxi into the city at a fixed rate. Light rail service is available from the Stockholm-Skavsta Airport to Stockholm centre on the regional Linkoping-Stockholm route, but the nearest station is about 4 miles from the airport. Flygbussarna provides coach service with a travel time of 90 minutes from the airport itself, or you can pre-book a taxi to pick you up and make the 80-minute trip to the city.
The Weather in Sweden
The weather in Sweden is hard to predict due to the influences of the Arctic Circle on the north and the Gulf Stream to the south. July is the warmest month of the year, however, and remains the best time to visit the country. Temperatures during July peak on average at 18°C, providing more than enough warmth for sightseeing or enjoying the nature wilderness areas scattered throughout the country. The outdoor cafes are in full operation, allowing you to enjoy the countryside in bloom as you eat. Dress should be light for the summer months, though you should include a sweater if you intend to travel to the North to enjoy the Midnight Sun.
Things to Do in Sweden
During the Swedish summer, many attractions move outdoors. From street side cafes to open-air museums, you can conceivably spend the entire day under the open sky while attending dozens of attractions. There are reasons to head indoors on occasion though, including several folklore presentations and the more permanent museum exhibitions. In Northern Sweden, the sun rarely sets, providing visitors with the opportunity to enjoy the Midnight Sun during their visits.
Destination Sweden
Sweden is a beautiful nation during the summer months. The weather is mild and much of the country is covered with colourful wildflowers. With ebookers, you can reserve flights to Sweden for anytime during this period, landing at either of the larger airports in the kingdom and then travelling to a reserved hotel room in Stockholm to establish a base from which to begin exploring the countryside.
