The hotel is very modern and clean. Our room was a good size, quiet, and had a view of the Riga river. They have an excellent breakfast buffet. The location is excellent. It is near old Riga, buses and trams leave from right in front of the hotel, and the train station is nearby. Right across from the hotel is the giant Riga marketplace. The staff were friendly and helpful. If we need to come to Riga again, we would definitely choose this hotel. The only glitch we had was that at first the small refrigerator in our room did not work. When we noticed it, we contacted staff and within 10 minutes someone came to fix it. They got it going, but it never got very cold.

Great location right next to old town. Great breakfast options. There is an onsite gym. Overall is good value. The 20 euro per night parking is rather pricy.

Camera comodissima e pulitissima (nonostante la moquette) con lenzuola, accappatoio e asciugamani sempre immacolati. Ottima selezione di cuscini. Bagno piccolo ma funzionale e fornito di tutto. La colazione è adatta a tutti i palati e ha una vasta offerta di piatti caldi e freddi. Great hotel, rude reception girl!
Everything was perfect until the day of checkout….we had a great stay and the evening staff was excellent, the staff at the breakfast bar were marvellous, however this all goes into drain now because the blonde girl at the reception from the morning shift was quite rude and patronising, hence I wouldn’t visit this hotel again.

The perfect hotel for our first visit to Riga. Modern large rooms with bath as well as shower in the spotless en suites . Easy walking distance to all the sights and airport bus stop beside the hotel. Good breakfast and efficient pleasant service. Definitely stay here again .

Avalon Hotel Riga is a good choice
It was over all a good experience, excellent location and friendly staff. We had booked and paid for half board which meant that we were supposed to be provided (probably buffet) dinner in their restaurant. They did not have it in their record but after some investigation they found that we had paid for the dinner. Issue was resolved and we liked the quality of the food at their Bar (as their restaurant was probably closed for maintenance).

This is a motel not a hotel. The carpet in the room was stained. The had a singular usb 1 wall charger that took 6 hrs to charge up the phone. The bed was child sized. The shower was also extremely small. One tiny soap bar and 2 tiny shower gels. The entrance is right next a big bus stop, it's noisy, dirty, and completely avoidable. Do yourself a favour and choose a different option.

Nice hotel on the edge of the old town, giving you access to all bars, restaurants and close to the train station as well as the bus station. Spacious rooms and everything very modern. I have stayed before and would stay again

This is a really wonderful hotel.
This is a really wonderful hotel. The staff at this hotel are exceptional. Wonderful reception staff and easy, friendly and helpful checkin. This is the first hotel we have stayed at that has honoured our VIP Gold perks so we received a room upgrade to a suite and a complementary bottle of wine. The room was fabulous, beds and pillows comfortable, bathroom an excellent size and shower pressure good. All amenities are provided in room - fridge, safe, tea and coffee making facilities. WIFI was excellent. Breakfast was plentiful with an excellent selection. The hotel also has a bar and restaurant but the location is right next to the old town with many restaurants and bars within walking distance. It’s about a 10 minute walk from the train station, trams are out the front and the markets are across the road. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel.

Very clean even though the facilities are not the most modern. Walking distance from the very centre and the famous zeppelin hangar markets. I'd recommend it and stay again.

Perfect location
Very convenient location between the bus and rail stations and the Old Town. Buses and trams stopped outside. We had a junior suite, which was huge. The bathroom was excellent. Really good shower and plenty of countertop around the basin. The range of toiletries and other useful stuff that was provided was impressive. The breakfast was very good. Just about everything you could possibly want and all of excellent quality. The only negatives were very minor. The wardrobe interior shelves were located so the sliding doors blocked access to them. 20cms either way would have made them accessible. Also a shortage of coat hangers. The room had a small fridge which was stuffed full of products we didn't want and were very expensive. As there are numerous convenience stores just outside the hotel it would have been far more useful to have an empty fridge. If I ever return to Riga I would definitely stay at the Avalon again.
