This was the 8th time our group booked a vacation home through VRBO. The management company was unprofessional, misrepresented the listing, lied and ignored serious safety issues.
When we arrived, one bathroom door had a crack across the middle, pictures were broken, vent covers bent, a sofa bed was broken and beyond repair. On our first day we sent pictures to the manager who said they were aware of the issues but didn’t have time to fix them prior to our arrival.
I was told the sofa bed wasn’t broken, apparently the previous guests used it it. (The bed rail was completely detached from the couch). So we couldn’t sleep on it and it wouldn’t go back into the couch so the second living room was not useful with half a sofa bed pulled out.
We had ongoing issues with pool and spa heat, despite paying $30 a day for this feature. The first day it was great, the second day they had to turn it up. By the 3rd day it was so hot you couldn’t put your hand in it. Apparently they sent someone over to look at it and everything was working fine. That night we had a thunderstorm, producing a significant amount of rain. The next morning the pool and spa were still too hot to use so we bought a pool thermometer. The pool tested at 106 degrees and the spa was 112 degrees, after all the rain and before the afternoon sun heated the pool. After googling, we learned that a spa should be around 104 so 112 is incredibly hot. Thank goodness one of the children didn’t jump into the pool!!!
On our 5th day I got a call that someone was at the house to look at the couch (that I complained about on the first day). They asked if they could enter the home. As nobody was home, I said that they couldn’t enter but we made an appointment for the following morning.
Promptly the next day, the maintenance worker arrived and looked at the sofa bed and said that it was broken and beyond repair. He said they would need a few people to carry the bed out. I completely agreed it would need a few people to do the job.
Our party then went out for the day. When we returned we noticed that someone came in and replaced the couch.
I sent an email to the manager asking why someone came in he house without permission. The day before we got a phone call asking permission and I said no and we booked an appointment, then the next day, they just enter? The manager never responded and we left 2 days later.
We have since filed a complaint with VRBO.
