The Neighborhood:
The Weequahic park neighborhood is one of Newark's oldest and most pleasant neighborhoods. The area features tree-lined streets, historic, large homes, and easy access to restaurants, shopping, and more. Weequahic park itself was designed by the Olmstead Brothers, the same designers who created Central Park in New York City.
We have owned this house since 2017. Since that time, we have never had any issues with crime or safety, but we encourage you to research the neighborhood online to ensure you will be comfortable and to calibrate your expectations.
Getting Around:
We are a ~5 minute car ride from Newark Int’l Airport and about 15 minutes from Newark Penn Station. We are a few blocks from historic Weequahic Park, and are a short drive from all that Newark and Northern New Jersey have to offer. Newark Penn Station (10-15 mins away, pending traffic) provides one-seat service to Downtown/Midtown Manhattan in 20-25 minutes.
For navigating the area, we highly recommend utilizing your own car or Uber/Lyft to get around (unless you're going into Manhattan, in which case we'd recommend driving or Uber/Lyft to get to Newark Penn Station, and then taking the train into the city). The area is not particularly walkable.
Other Things to Note:
If you're traveling with a large group, note that this home feature two separate apartments (each rented on Airbnb). Let us know if you'd be interested in both apartments to accommodate your group. We'd be happy to facilitate if our calendar permits!
Please note that, while renovated, this is still an older home (built over 100 years ago). As such, you may notice some imperfections. We like to think of them as added character! :)
Absolutely no parties! This is a residential neighborhood. Please respect our neighbors.
