We had a very uncommon stay for an hotel of this rating and a Sofitel property.
After booking our stay and fully paying for it, we received an email the following day informing us that the restaurant, lobby, reception and some amenities were closed for renovations…
We called the property and were told it was posted in their website (not in my region) and that if it was an issue I could cancel and go somewhere else (5 star service/brand????).
The GM was contacted and he did call back and apologized, he looked forward to meet and greet us upon arrival but only had a generic note and macarons. Never had the opportunity to meet, even after we flagged that 3 days in a row we encountered cleaning room issues.
It would have been all forgotten and good if we didn’t have to ask for housekeeping everyday, for 3 days the housekeeping missed our request for the room to be cleaned and would show up around 4pm or later.
Long story short, this is a great location and an aged property. It lacks so much and needs to be fully renovated to merit its 5 starts and Sofitel level standards. The location probably fills the room by itself but this is not enough, staff was hit or miss, everyone polite but a mix of intern level receptionists and few senior seasoned hospitality professionals.
We are regular Accor and Sofitel travelers and unfortunately do not recommend this property. We won’t be back,
