Loved the hotel a lot. The staff were nice and kind. Provided me a lot of information about the hotel check in and out, restaurant, housekeeping and recommendations of different wards. The room was very spacious. Absolutely loved the wooden tub but didn’t use it. Was worry about water damaging the wood. Next time I’ll use it when I stay longer. Overall, great place to stay

That was great to stay at Karan hotel. We’v got there little early and I didn’t expect that we can check in! We loved welcome drink and wet towels when we checked in. Also we loved rental bicycles. We could move around in Kyoto so smooth. And we loved the bathroom so nice.

Wonderful hotel! It’s quiet and unassuming, with a real Japanese aesthetic. It’s very well managed and clean. The staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming. The rooms are small but the bed is very comfortable and the shower is outstanding. The breakfast buffet is very good with a wide range of cuisines. The only downside is that there is not much around the hotel. It’s a quick 10 min walk to the train station, 5 min to the subway, and there’s a 7-11 two doors away with an ATM. I’m sure the room rate would be higher if the hotel were nearer to major tourist sites, but the sights in Kyoto are very spread out anyway, and we were happy to get around by subway, foot and taxi through the many traditional neighborhoods of the city.

My fiancé stayed in Tokyo and Kyoto for our honeymoon, and we loved this hotel! Hotel Kanra Kyoto was absolutely gorgeous, in a convenient location (right off of the Karasuma subway line), and they had the friendliest staff. Their customer service was top-tier in every way; they even offer free drinks in the lobby between 1-7 PM! If you stay here, you MUST get a room with a cypress deep-soaking bathtub. It is totally worth it!
