True and absolute oceanfront condo with large wrap around lanai (balcony), affording a huge lanai that sits on top of the ocean. The view stretches from the Kaiwi Point and the Kailua Pier to the north, all the way to Ka'awaloa Point at Kealakekua Bay to the south. Watch the sea life in the tide pools and lagoon where turtles like to swim and eat. Let the sounds of the sea lull you to sleep after your day of sightseeing or relaxing. Both bedroom and living room face the ocean where you may see dolphins all year and whales when in season. This unit is elegantly yet simply furnished, decorated, and remodeled with modern materials and easy to clean surfaces.

Hale Kona Kai is an intimate, absolute oceanfront complex of 39 one-bedroom condominiums. Located at the edge of Kona Town, it is off the main road providing for quiet, ocean view relaxation from every unit. Located next to Royal Kona Resort, the united is very conveniently located to excellent dining. Huggo's and Don the Beachcomber's, landmark Kona restaurants, are right next door. Many other dining and entertainment options are all within easy walking distance. Honl's Beach is just south of the complex and the Kona Farmer's Market just a half mile to the north.
The complex offers many great amenities, including an elevator for easy access for everyone. On the ocean side you will find a heated salt water swimming pool and a barbeque area at the south end of the complex. Laundry machines are available on each floor.
Each unit offers central air conditioning, assigned parking, secure high speed WIFI, cable TV.

Amazing vacation spot!
Located close to everything with plenty to do. And when we were still, we enjoyed every second of just relaxing on the lanai and watching the waves hit the tide pools. Everything we could have needed was provided and we had the MOST comfortable bed ever. The host was very friendly and communicative.

Location, location, location
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this fabulous VRBO. The condo had everything you could possibly want and was definitely in the best location of Kona! The view from the lanai is stunning and we enjoyed our daily sea aquarium. The amount of fish you can see is unbelievable. We will definitely stay here again when we are back in Kona! Hawaii never looked so good from this beautiful VRBO
This was my first VRBO experience and it’s going to be hard to top! Amazing views, incredibly clean and great communication with the property manager. This place made me feel right at home and is furnished with everything you would need for a stay in Kona. The layout was well thought out and it was the small touches that impressed me the most. Binoculars, flashlights, beach chairs and towels, a well appointed kitchen and what can I say about the views! Thanks Tracy and team for a magical stay.

Loved everything about it except the lack of central ac (which was a development after we rented it)
Excellent location, very close to Kona and many restaurants (1/4 mile). Lovely view of the ocean, sunsets, and rainbows! from the balcony, west facing and only 20’ off the rocky shore. Only 200’ from a surf beach (though reef break makes it a bit treacherous). Comfortable bed with nice linens, ample towels, well stocked kitchen with basic supplies (sugar, pepper, etc), coffee grinder, cooler and ice pack, beach chairs and beach towels, etc. Unfortunately, the lack of central air was a big drawback as the single ac unit in the bedroom was not adequate to cool the other rooms despite max cool setting with closed doors/windows and drawn shades at all times. The living room was sweltering. Bedroom was somewhat cool at night but humid—dehumidifier rapidly switched off as the water reservoir rapidly filled. I believe the ac issue occurred after we rented the unit and probably too late to change our plans, but it would have been a non-starter if we had other options. Hopefully they will fix it soon. If not, perhaps a second ac in the kitchen or living room would help.

gorgeous view and great area
condo had the absolute most gorgeous view on 2 sides - got to see sunrise and sunset. unit is dated and smelled a bit musty but the staff was wonderful and responsive and brought a dehumidifier which helped. the property is very close to downtown Kona so easy to walk to meals, drinks and shopping (and more gorgeous sunsets). Our return flight was cancelled and we had to book one 6 hours earlier so we had to high-tail it out of there and couldn't clean up as we should have - but staff was very understanding and nice about it. Would highly recommend staying here.

The condo is very comfortable with all you need. Management very accommodating and available. We had trouble with tv remote and our manager spent several hours and trip to Spectrum to get a new remote. Would definitely stay here again.

A must stay location
I would highly recommend this place for vacation. We stayed here for 10 days and was never in want/need for anything. The location is perfect; walking distance to restaurants and shopping. The jewel of this place is the lanai!!! The spectacular views and sounds certainly made it difficult to leave and we found ourselves rushing to get back to it. This place is outstanding and well worth booking. We are now ruined for other places...lol.

The place was clean, well decorated, had amazing views, great location, and Tracy was an amazing host and very responsive to queries. I would stay here again next time I am in Kona. The place is just a 5 min walk to downtown bars and restaurants, though it’s hard to even want to leave the balcony - I could have spent all day up there just watching the waves and fish!
