Find Cheap Flights to Tunisia

Tunisia is a popular tourist destination in north-east Africa, and with ebookers, you can find discount flights to Tunisia and all the best places are to stay and visit.

Airports in Tunisia

There are seven international airports. Travellers are most likely to arrive in Tunis, the capital, or Enfidha, a city in north-east Tunisia. Tunis-Carthage International Airport is located 8km east of the city centre on the Route X highway, and Enfidha-Hammamet International Airport sits 11km south-west of Enfidha and 40km south-west of the town of Hammamet.

Transportation from the Airports

A bus or a taxi will take you where you need to go from Tunis-Carthage Airport, or you can hire a car from one of the companies at the airport. There are two buses which leave from the airport, the SNT and the TUT; the SNT costs 1 dinar and takes around 20 minutes to reach the city centre, whereas the TUT is slightly more expensive. Taxis are available from the airport taxi stand and a standard fare into the city is around 5 dinars. From Enfidha, there is a bus which takes 35 minutes from the airport into the centre of Enfidha. To get to Hammamet, a taxi service is available and should cost around 60 dinars. You can also rent a car from the airport. The journey time by road is about 40 minutes.

Weather in Tunisia

Tunisia’s climate is a Mediterranean one, with mild winters and hot, dry summers. If you are visiting a town or city in northern Tunisia, any time of year is a good time to visit, although high summer can be crowded and very hot. For a trip to the southern desert regions, winter (around October) is a better time to go, as temperatures can still reach 20˚C. In summer, temperatures regularly climb above 30˚C.

Highlights of Tunisia

Tunisia, despite being the smallest country in North Africa, is home to beautiful scenery, important historical and cultural heritage and golden beaches. The medina in Tunis (a walled section in the city centre) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and includes such monuments as the Zitouna Mosque and the Bey’s Palace. For history buffs, the ancient city of Carthage is today a suburb of Tunis, and the ancient ruins lie 19km east of the city centre. A bit further south in the Sahel region is the city of Sousse, which is a popular holiday destination owing to its sandy beaches. You will find many traditional markets here too, which is a great way of getting a real flavour of Tunisia.
