Reasonable Hotel - Strange staffing levels
Generally a reasonably good hotel. I was here for conference. A few strange areas. At check in, they tried to take a deposit of $750 instead of $200 until I spotted it. I still haven't received an emailed invoice. I see they have charged me £3.18 for no apparent reason as I didn't take any water in room and paid all bills as I went! One side of my room lost power one day (but fixed pretty quickly), door handle kept coming loose, but room OK. Asked for a late checkout, which was granted, but rescinded on the day. Also had to have an airport shuttle 2 hours eariler than liked. The restaurant menu is rather limited and not particualry vegetarian friendly. Now the staffing issue. They have a bar/restaurant. The bar staff do an excellent job, they are friendly, efficient and work really hard. I don't understand why you have two bar staff Monday-Wednesday and then Thurs-Sat (when the conference is on and things are really busy) you reduce the bar staff to a single person! It was generally taking 20 minutes to get served! We asked whether a member of staff was sick on those nights and was told that it was a management decision to only have one member of staff - Stupid management! People were going across the road to Dennys to eat and drink because it was quicker! You would have easily paid for the second member of bar staff with the increased sales.

Arrived late first night: tv did not work; second day tv did not work, only a few receptacles worked in room, no microwave, coffee maker overflowed, phone did not work; had another party call front desk to report these matters. Maintenance came to room with a new receptacle to install. I did not have time to have him in the room. He said the tv needed to be replaced. He unplugged the tv and plugged back in, and it worked. I told him it was ok, as I was getting ready to leave. TV did not work when I returned, so I had to unplug and plug back in several times. Still no microwave, but front desk said "not every room has a microwave". My other guests I was with had microwaves. I had to move the coffee maker to different receptacles to find one that worked. THere was no fan in bathroom for steam mitigation. I did not have a problem with housekeeping, but other people in my party did.

Just fine.
We were here for a few days of sightseeing as we’d never been to Chicago. Hotel was fine. It met our needs and we don’t have any complaints. If you’re expecting 5 star accommodations, you won’t get that here, but otherwise, clean, comfortable rooms at a reasonable price.

Door has key access, but not working. On a Sunday morning check out is at 12 and staff kept waking me up for every hour from 8. Booked room for occasion and they made me pay for 3 days and let’s me know that property is full, I have called the hotel 3 times to make arrangements for the room and ended up getting last room On the first floor. Staff did change my room the next day but I after making multiple attempts to make our stay memorable they staff should have paid more attention while attending calls, let the customer know if they can’t have a change of room.

There was a major plumbing issue in our room. We were on the first floor and our toilet wasn’t “bolted” to the ground, and had a constant odor of sewage. It was truly awful. Our whole room smelled like sewage our entire stay. Besides that, the room was clean. The staff was friendly and they checked us in early at no extra charge. I’m sure if we complained they would have accommodated us, but it was only two nights.
