A faded beauty that offers good value and a great location. The staff were very helpful in accommodating my requests. My room overlooked busy Queen St and was noisy but I was warned of this and was given the option to switch but I did have a strained view of the castle which was a trade off. The traffic noise died down after 11 pm anyway. Loved the soaker tub! TV had wonky reception and there were no electrical outlets beside the bed. An extension cord was provided and sufficed. Lots of restaurants and shops in the immediate area.

Lovely traditional hotel

The staff at the Angel are always really helpful and welcoming. It's a lovely building to visit and the rooms can vary but are always decent, clean and comfortable at the very least. Breakfast is good. I stay here when I can!

Great hotel and location. Reception staff very helpful and nothing too much trouble. My room..window wouldn't open, as it was hot days. No fan in the room or bathroom. Decor could do with repainting looking very tired Door frame and surroundings desperately needs repainting and filling

The hotel on arrival looks impressive. The staff on reception were friendly, helpful and efficient, as were the cleaning team. The reception area is nice. The bedroom was dated and looked like it needed a little bit of love. Nice touches were tea/coffee and toiletries in bathroom. However bathroom needed an upgrade. Breakfast was ok, hot selection/cereals/pastries,but needed a better section of fruit and yogurts and better coffee.

Enjoyed my stay at the Angel which is a traditional old building in Cardiff City Centre. I had a quiet room on the 2nd floor overlooking Westgate Street. Very quiet nights sleep. Breakfast was ok. Think the hotel could do with a bit of a face lift and a little modernization.

Excellent location for bars, restaurants, castle. Hotel is a bit dated but for one night we didn’t mind. Very clean, our mattress a little too soft for my taste. Lovely duvet! I prefer the shower as opposed to the bath. Overall I would say that it’s a good hotel for a short stay. Concierge very efficient and professional.

We had the best night's sleep in a hotel ever here . The staff was very polite and helpful. The hotel itself has a lovely grand entrance. There are some places that looked tired but thats to be expected for a building of its age . It didn't affect our stay in any way. The breakfast options were very good . We will definitely stay again sometime

This hotel has a lot of potential and is good enough for a budget hotel, but unfortunately there a few issues that need to be tackled by the management. Some of the weaker points include the need for noise-proof windows in the bedrooms, a better breakfast and better housekeeping services.

Great service and a great stay

Had a great stay here that started with the warmest welcome ever from Joey and Sarah. Both went above and beyond within 5 minutes of our arrival; we were able to check-in a bit early, and I thought I had left my credit cards at a nearby pub and Sarah was on the phone immediately to help me retrieve them. Room was clean and lovely. Location was great for our stay and will definitely return.
