A one night stay dropping our daughter off at uni. Convenient location and friendly staff. Clean throughout. It is a dated Victorian hotel which most have been fabulous in its time. Fan in the room as no aircon and windows don’t open but this was fine. Overall for the price we paid no issues with it.

Nice, convenient location but a few issues
Convenient location and if lucky you get a lovely castle view. Service was good - although the hotel bar wasn't always manned. Should be. Windows need some serious restoration - mine had a crack on one of the panels. Also my room had the corridor light shine through my room which I could cover up - shouldn't be the case...definitely needs some 'nip and tuck'

Lovely old building, with a sweeping staircase near to the entrance of the hotel. My premium room was large with three windows and a large super king size bed. The bathroom had a wash hand basin with several cracks in it. I found the food poor quality and expensive. Only one of the lifts were working which staff used as well as guests.

Lovely staff in a beautiful old building. Rooms are fairly basic but very affordable considering the excellent central location. Parking is a bit of a pain, but concierge has a voucher for nearby parking deck.

Nice stay, in a convenient location.
Booked last minute. Very happy with service and room, although the room was extremely warm; uncomfortably so. The window had broken latches so couldn’t remain open. Otherwise was clean, with recycling efforts clearly in place. I’d certainly stay again.

For a one night stay it was just about OK, however rooms were hot, windows wouldn’t stay open, no aircon, bed was dreadful, and the toilet had a leak at the back. Investment is needed in the rooms. Lobby area was good. Had I stayed longer I would have asked to move. It will sell based on location which is excellent.

Reception is beautiful. Rest of hotel in need of refurbishment. Reception staff very welcoming. Room ok, very dated. Was boiling hot so managed to get windows open. Managed to turn radiator off. Overlooking street and castle though could not see castle as blocked by trees. Comfortable beds, quiet to sleep. Shower was so hot and could not adjust cold water to cool it down. Overall ok hotel, in need of some refurbishment. Ok just to sleep but we didn’t try out any facilities there. Close to city centre so very convenient. No parking available and nearby NCP very expensive. Hotel not worthy of price we paid

Angel Hotel - enjoyed my stay
very nice and amazing location. the staff was great! the only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the wifi was pretty weak during my stay and cut in and out quite a bit. I would still recommend it and would stay there again.

The hotel is in a beautiful old building, just across from Bute Park and a 10 minute walk to the train & bus station. There are restaurants not far within a 5 minute walk. The room was nice, but the windows are bolted to prevent opening more than 2 inches. It was hot and stuffy in the room, but a nice breeze outside, but when we asked about the windows we were told that instead we must use the desk fans (which are stored in the closet). We could not even open the window enough to look outside, but only through the glass, as if we were inside a fishbowl. It was absurd. The front desk staff was mostly useless. Depending on who you get when you approach the desk, they either try to be helpful, yet uninformed, or are completely disinterested. We asked for a city map of the area and were told that they had none because they'd given the last lot to a huge tour group. They had absolutely no interest in recommending points of interest in the area, but promptly suggested we go to the information center in the Castle-- which is basically an unmanned outdated and therefore, malfunctioning table screen. I went up to the bar to order a drink and the bartender looked at me surprised and seemed bewildered when I asked for a glass of wine. Tried to use the restaurant once and could not find anyone to seat us; eventually we just gave up and left. HR needs to work a little harder on hiring. Room service was good and the cleaning staff were lovely, though. A real mixed bag with this one!
Windows are bolted shut to allow for only a 2-3 inch opening.
