Lovely big room - we were lucky enough to be upgraded to a huge family suite with 2 bedrooms.

Hotel was nice enough but tired looking - needs to be thoroughly cleaned and redecorated. Breakfast was nice but certain items weren't being replenished. I would stay again as long as the price was right.
A great welcome - staff are always welcoming, positive and professional. The room was comfortable but some fixtures could be updated in the hotel - including lifts (which weren't working on my visit) and panelling/floor tiles in bathroom. But centrally located and good value for money.

Well sited hotel in need of a lift
The hotel is well sited for a Cardiff visit being close to the castle and the rugby stadium. It has seen better days and the decor urgently needs some attention. The lift was not working (I think it been out of action for a little while) so it was a bit of a climb to my room on the second floor. The facilities in the room were good and there was very little noise from inside or outside the hotel. The price for the accommodation was very good and I would stay again but probably I will wait until the lift is fixed
We travelled as a family (2 parents, 2 teenagers) and were staying one night.
The staff on the front desk were very welcoming and the family room was like a palace - with two separate rooms in it: one with a superking bed and the other also very spacious with twins. We were not expecting so much space so were pleasantly surprised!
The best thing about this hotel is its fantastic, central location, right in front of the castle and a stone's throw away from the start of the high street.
We planned ahead and booked parking in advance on Greyfriars Road which worked well for us, as we were travelling light.
Sadly we didn't get to trial the bar or food as we headed out flr the evening (can recommend Pilgrim Pizza nearby!).
We definitely plan to return when we are next in Cardiff.
Beautiful foyers into hotel and grand staircase. Does look shabby in places but is an old building. Friendly welcome- we checked in late in the evening due to delayed trains but we received a warm welcome. Room was very hot couldn't open windows but luckily had a fan (which helped to cool the room quickly and it can be put on a timer). The bathroom was also very hot especially after a shower. Clean spacious room with tea coffee facilities. The free toiletries smelt amazing and was easily enough for a night or two for a couple. Good central location to castle, stadium and city centre.

Disliked: Cleanliness, amenities
Maybe my fault because I didn’t look at the reviews - pictures look beautiful - but please don’t be fooled by them -the place looks really run down…… I couldn’t open the windows - the room was so hot …..- I needed fresh air - I get Claustrophobia in combined spaces - opening a window would relieve my symptoms etc …. I was told by the manager that they couldn’t help me but they could offer me a free breakfeast!! / lesson learned - do t focus on pictures !

Stayed for 3 nights in October:
Pros:
Staff are lovely
Excellent location
Cons:
Elevator was not working
Windows are old so rooms can be noisy as close to road and nightclubs
Great location not far from railway station and close to castle and town centre. Room was good size and a comfy bed. Staff were friendly and helpful.
We did not have breakfast
The hotel is very old. Carpets are stained. The elevator is out of order. The walls haven't been painted in years. The room is barebones. But the service is very good. The employees are great. The location is great. The price is great
The hotel itself is excellent, and the staff are brilliant. I stayed in room 104. The traffic outside was quite noisy, but I can sleep through a hurricane. 😂 The room was excellent, plenty of storage space. Can't understand why the windows are not double glazed? It would subdue the noise. Would I stay here again. Definitely. ❤️
Great location, close to shops, restaurants and bars. Also right opposite the castle and principality stadium, in a quiet location. The room was clean and a good size.
