The hotel was clean and convenient! It was very central to everything (huge plus!). However, it was SO hot. It is an older building so this is to be expected. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

We loved our deluxe suite as it had been renovated but had kept somebof ghe rraditional featyres. It was spacious, quiet, clean and ggd bed was very comfortable.

The hotel is amazingly placed for what we needed (going to Cardiff Castle) and staff were really friendly and helpful. The room we had was large, but in desperate need of refurbishment and was pretty dirty in places, lots of cobwebs, really dirty skirting boards, stains on the walls, lamp shades and wall paper peeling, grouting in bathroom missing and loose tiles etc. there was also a petty old looking fuse box on the wall.

The hotel is best summed up by the main staircase. Beneath angels painted on the ceiling and the glamourous chandelier, is an ornate balcony and open riser staircase. This is ruined by the broken cherubs on the newel posts. The room itself was clean with no trace of dirt or mould. The bed sheets where clean, the carpets in good condition and clean, but the towels were thin and worn. For my taste, the bed was a little soft. The staff were polite and friendly. Only one of the two very small lifts was working, the second had clearly been out of service for some time. The slightly limited breakfast was quite edible, but the serving spoons were hot from sitting in the dishes (be warned) and not away from the heat lamps. We didn't have dinner, but there is a comfortable bar area. Alas, the words adequate and functional best describe this hotel.

Perfect venue for Castle events. Clean and wonderful staff. Good value. Outside doesn’t look that inviting but once inside a lovely entrance hall. Rooms had good amenities and a good view of the castle.

Could be amazing - few niggles

Lovely hotel, a little faded and no longer as luxurious as it clearly once was. Sadly the bed was far too soft for me, so i lay on the divet on the floor. Had to prop a window open to getvsome air in. Very good breakfast. Slightly overenthusiadtic staff cleared my plate before i finished my laet mouthful. But most staff vert attentive.Army of cleaners swarmed the corriders in the morning making me feel rushed to check out early.

I loved the hotel and it was a bargain price, no fault with it at all. The lady on reception was lovely, only thing that i thought "oh ok then" was when i saw the room cleaners in the corridor when i was leaving ,i smiled at him and saod mornkng, he just looked at me and didnt say a thing, but its early and hes at work so i cant blame him 😀

The hotel was in a brilliant location and very reasonably priced. Uniquely decorated and full of history, but also practical. The stand out feature however was how helpful, friendly and professional the staff were, from the receptionists, the manager in charge of the restaurant, and the cleaning staff. Exceptionally nice people doing a great job.

Awful! Carpark was closed, so we had to park 12 minute walk down the road, bed had zero springs left in it, the room Was beyond hot, couldn’t open the window for air, orange juice at breakfast was hot, lift was broken so we had to climb top floor with all our luggage, carnage, hotel is so run down it’s disgusting!
