The staff were an absolute pleasure. They were friendly, helpful and prompt with all of our needs. The restaurant was reasonably priced and the food was excellent. Located about a 15 minute walk from the centre of town (Esplanade) did not pose any problems either.

Feel like I needed 3.5 stars for rating. Property is on outskirts of Cairns in terms of distance to CBD its a good 10 min walk depending on your fitness. Feel we overpaid for quality of hotel as room and facilities are tired in places. If our room is a good example then the hotel is in need if some refurbishment as fittings were tired. We witnessed a man break a deck board by the pool (as it is also tired). He just stood on it. This was promptly - day after, repaired but tells you condition. Etc etc. However upside is good staff, breakfast was good, small but functional gym with good equipment and couple of pool options (but a bit tired) Car parking is NOT included in price it's $15 per day. You can park on the road outside for free at your risk. Bar wise there is one and it offers happy hour drinks 4-6pm. There is a small shop onsite

Rydges on The Esplanade in Cairns is handy and can boast great views of the mountains and water if you select the right room. The full buffet breakfast and lunch options were great, as was the in-room wood-fired pizza! The pools were a bit cold and room a tiny bit worn out with a bed moving around somewhat. Otherwise the place is great. Great location!!

The family room is a great option when traveling with children. It has a separate “room” (doesn’t have a door or windows) with a bunk bed and small toddler bed. The double bed is a bit small for 2 people but has a lovely ocean view. The hotel is very old and run down and in a desperate need of a renovation. Our room was quite dirty when we arrived, the carpets made our feet dirty when walking on them and need to be replaced. The blankets didn’t feel clean either and the bathroom shower has mould build up that the staff were not able to clean out. The staff were very accommodating about our complaints and brought us slippers to wear inside the room and bathrobes, as well as providing us with a generous discount on our stay. The swimming pool was also not very inviting looking so we never made use of it on our holiday which is a shame because swimming at the hotel pool is one of our kids favourite things to do on vacation. The hotel is located right near the beach so it’s a short convenient walk to the esplanade. There’s a great cafe and playground nearby but the main dining area is a bit of a walk, about 700-900m, which I don’t usually mind but we were traveling with my elderly parents so we had to drive everywhere as it was too far for them to walk. Overall the staff we very lovely and really tried their best to make our stay comfortable but the hotel really needs to be updated.

Great room. Spacious. Fabulous views from our room on L6. Friendly staff. Swimming pool Walking distance to bus, Esplanade and great restaurants. Happy hour at the hotel bar was a great place to be at about 5.30pm. Thank you to Rydges Esplanade Resort

OMG!
The hotel is no better than a mediocre Western Star motel. The floor i stayed on had an old look and musky smell. The room was tiny and extremely basic with minimal facilities. In room dining was a joke and the menus were old and dirty looking. The TV was tiny, with minimal channels . Crystallbrooke leave this museum for dead and for less or the same money. Terrible, look somewhere else.
