One of the few left over hotels and pensions from the better times. This place is a jewel, all details from the original construction of 1921 have been restored ca. 2007 with millions of Euros I suppose. They tried to keep everything as it was back 1920 (locking system with tradional keys, seperate water taps for cold and warm etc.) - I like that very much. Most recent update seems to be the huge flat screen TVs with Wifi-access point included (need to keep TV on to surf on the web) However it seems that there isnot enough money to professionally manage this hotel: the outside pool which is supposed to be opened end of June 2019 looks still very much like "construction", the carpets in the corridors are worn after 10years, the neighborhoud buildings are in very bad conditions. Some receptionist are students from Coimbra (lovely and fully motivated though!). Oh yes: there is a kind of zoo next door: deers, horses and goats can be feeded with bread. Always nice to return even the rates have increased up to 70€ like everywhere in Portugal the last 2 years!
