Fabulous hotel. Rooms are large for Europe and extremely comfortable. Great neighborhood and close to shopping transit. If you want a quiet spot away from the crowds, this is it. Thank you to Liliana at the front desk, Paulo who was everywhere and to my bartender friend from Ireland!

The room was quiet and they were able to check us in early. However, it was raining when we arrived and there are stairs to the reception area and no one came to help us. Also, the restaurant did not open until 3 and had a very limited and expensive menu. This was the only option for food at the hotel.

So many mistakes. 1 star hotel?
They did not have the booked room available at time of checkin, even hours after normal checkin time. Had to switch rooms. Room service food had things included specifically asked to exclude. They gave late checkout as ”compensation” but various employees kept calling to say I was staying after normal check-out time. At check out they had already charged me city tax etc on card from checkin without asking and without possibility to change the card. What a disappointment. The room had a great view over river Amstel from my room, but that was one of few positives. Choose a different hotel…

Love this hotel so much we are return visitors!
This was a repeat visit for us at The Pestana. We stayed here last year and loved it so much we had to re-book. We love everything about this hotel. The location is a short tram ride or a nice walk into the city center, but there is so much to do in the neighborhood the hotel is in. The staff is SO attentive and go above and beyond to make sure your stay is perfect. The rooms are beautifully designed and the beds are extremely comfortable. We look forward to our future visits at this gem of a hotel!

The hotel was beautiful and the room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was appalling and not worth the money, it was extremely expensive for what it was. Avoid the mini bar - its i s chargeable and hefty prices! There is only one carton of water each on arrival which doesn't get replenished during your stay. I asked for milk for the coffee at reception and was told they had none. For a 5 star hotel, it was not great and very expensive for a two night stay on the outskirts of Amsterdam

I recently stayed at this so-called 5-star hotel, but my experience was far from what I expected. Here are the main issues I encountered: 1. Noisy Air Conditioning: The air conditioner was extremely noisy. When I raised this issue with the staff, they claimed it was normal. We had to turn it off to get any sleep, which made the room uncomfortably warm. 2. Broken Curtain: The curtain in our room was broken, causing us to wake up at 6 AM due to the sunlight streaming in. This was incredibly frustrating and disrupted our sleep. 3. Unhygienic Free Bottle of Water: The hotel provided a complimentary bottle of water, but it had hair on it. This was a significant hygiene concern and quite off-putting. 4. Misleading Photos: The room had only one small window, which was completely different from the photos advertised. The lack of natural light made the room feel cramped and claustrophobic. 5. Small Room: The room itself was very small, much smaller than what was depicted in the pictures online. It felt like a significant downgrade from what we were expecting. Overall, I was highly disappointed with my stay. Despite the hotel’s 5-star rating, the experience did not meet basic expectations of comfort and cleanliness. I would not recommend this hotel based on my experience.

Our room was not available as the hotel was fully booked so they gave us an upgrade to a special room however this room was very inconvenient because it had many stairs and no separation between sleeping room and rest of the room such as bathtub etc. The staff was very helpful in trying to find us a better room and the following day they managed to find a suitable room
