It is in an excellent location to Union Station. We bought a week pass for the Metro and saw all the DC sights. We are so glad we picked The George Kimpton. Plenty of food options -- we recommend The Corner Bakery Cafe, Notra Cucina (Italian), and The Pub in the Phoenix Hotel. Hotel was very clean and safe, staff was very polite and helpful.

Great location to see the monuments and explore the bars and restaurants in NOMA. We felt very safe walking around the neighborhood. The staff was excellent and helped make our stay more comfortable.

Location was fantastic, however the Kimpton experience was sorely lacking. Every Kimpton we’ve stayed in has been “WOW!”, but not Kimpton George.

I’ve never been to a hotel where no staff cracked a smile or be welcoming in any way. My wife and our pet came a bit late, and no one was at the valet so we grabbed our luggage and went in. The front desk saw us but there was an awkward air for whatever reason, so I had to mention first that I wanted to check in. He checked me in, got the key card and that was it. No overview for the room, amenities, where the elevator is, nothing. We shrug it off, go to our room and crash. The room was nice, clean, roomy, and really no complaints there. Next morning, we go to the front desk to check out. It’s a different staff member, but again, no smiles or anything and I had to mention first that I wanted to check out. Overall it just felt very uncomfortable and unwelcoming when there were interactions. Am I asking for too much for staffs to say ‘hello’ or ‘good morning’ with a smile?

Very nice and convenient
Very pleasant hotel. Check-in was quick, efficient, and friendly. I chose the hotel based on the proximity to Union Station and the reviews and was not disappointed. Many good restaurants within walking distance and the DC Metro is nearby at Union Station. I'll be back.

Clean, convenient and affordable luxury
The hotel is great! Conveniently located to many different right seeing venues. Lots of restaurants within walking distance and the metro isn’t too far of a walk either. Park (right across the street) for much cheaper than the valet service. The only recommendation I would offer is regarding the shower. The shower head was cheap and the shower curtain rod was rusted and too close to the wall. Most hotels have the curved shower rods that give you more room whilst showering. The other amenities offered make up for it though.

Wifi was terrible. "Facility Fee" which was charge at check in gives you nothing and was offensive. Only one elevator was in service the three days we were there, which might mean that upkeep is not what it should be. Very close to the train station and the Capital Mall, which worked great. Beds were comfortable and the room spacious enough for our needs.

Super clean, very convenient to just about anything we wanted to see in DC. I didn’t like that the door to the bathroom was a barn sliding door that didn’t completely block all views in. Was a little uncomfortable for a room to support 5 persons. I’d stay here again and recommend if you were staying in a smaller room.

Great family hotel
Nice hotel and really appreciated the size of the room with 2 queen beds and a sofa bed. Bathroom was very sizable. Liked the nighttime dimming light options in the bathroom which helped with young kids having a night light. Decor of the hotel is fun. Bed and bedding were nice and comfortable. Hall noise was minimal but we were at the end of a hall far away from the elevator. Lobby is inviting to hang out and liked they had the Olympics on a huge screen to watch while we were there. Location is convenient near union station. There is a corner bakery next door which was super helpful for quick and relatively easy meal options (breakfast lunch dinner) before and after long days of sightseeing. My one gripe would be that our room didn’t have enough outlets. For a family of 4 with lots of things needing charging we were unplugging things and doing gymnastics to get behind furniture to reach outlets. One of the outlets that was reachable wasn’t working. Most hotels these days seem to have lots of outlets built into lamps and side tables etc. it would be great to update the rooms to add these.
