Staff were amazing! Helpful and friendly. Can arrange airport transfer for you. They all spoke English very well. There is a common area downstairs with a bar and free filtered water and lots of plugs to charge your electronics. The bunk beds were a little scary, very unstable. You only get two sheets and a pillow case so if you get a free blanket on your airline keep it! There is one plug in each bed spot. Rooms are air conditioned. It was a little expensive for a shared room with bunk beds but it is an excellent location.
Perfect if you want a cheap hostel in the centre of town

Comfortable.
Good stay at this hostel although the staff really should update themselves with information on getting to some of the sights and attractions as it wasn't correct when I explored.

Ryanair of hostels!
Great building with lovely outdoor areas and newly built accommodations and shared bathrooms....could be fantastic if it weren't for the terrible staff and money grabbing managers. Upon arrival was told need to pay extra municipal tax (8% mentioned in email but was charged 20% and staff couldn't explain why!) also wanted R$20 to store our belongings securely while we waited on our room to be prepared. Another R$10 deposit for the key, R$5 for a fresh towel and your not allowed bring in drinks, you must purchase in the hostel at vastly inflated prices. Breakfast was OK although not often topped up, pot luck what you get to eat depending what time you arrive. Hostel is in great location and guests were great fun, such a shame it's ruined by disinterested staff and management. You can get more for your more for your money elsewhere when add in all the extras.
Fantastic stay. My only grumble is that check in was chaos. I wasn't informed correctly of anything and then was rushed to the wrong room, then the right room and was told to 'run' as the girl had to get back to another customer who was deemed more important. Not good. Make sure you have cash on you for your key deposit and this isn't stated anywhere and that became a whole issue. Another reception woman was grumpy the whole time and made me feel uncomfortable and as if i was interrupting her.
Other than that, it is a great location, very accessible and close to everything.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The hostel itself is a little dated but tidy for the most part. The rooms and common areas were cleaned daily. I think some rooms are new and renovated but the room I was in wasn't. The beds were most uncomfortable. I had a hard time sleeping. It's in a good area close to the beach and metro but the downside is the steep hill you have to climb to get to the hostal which is difficult when you have heavy load and the wifi was hit or miss buut it was fine for the few nights I was there. The atmosphere is great for meeting ppl.
Stayed in a 4 dorm room and we were very pleased with the bed comfort and cleanliness of the hostel. Daily housekeeping kept the rooms and toilets clean. Friendly, helpful staff made the stay much more pleasant. Would highly recommend if travelling on a budget and wanting a clean comfortable hostel.
Very reasonable hostel, clean, great location. Good atmosphere in the lobby. Very friendly and social staff. They organize going out to clubs and etc...
The place is very safe and there is a guard 24/7.
Please be aware that this hostel does not do early check in as indicated. I arrived in Rio at 5am in the morning, only to be told that reception only opens at 9am. When reception opened at 9am I was told that I could only be accommodated at 2pm which is the check in time.
I only booked the hostel because it indicated early check in could be arranged at 20BRL and I made sure I sent a note in the special requests regarding my early arrival.
So I would advise the management to ammend the early check in note under CabanaCopa Hostel’s small print.
Other than that though its a great hostel with a good vibe and great staff. The location is excellent, close to copacabana beach and the metro station.

Good for the price
Basic accomodation but has everything you need. Next door to a day care so very noisy in the mornings. Close to metro station which is excellent.
Great location. Great staff all around from front desk to housekeeping. Closest u will get to metro. Copacabana 3 very short blocks away and Impanema 2 metro stops away. And Rio is great and safe. Don't believe the bad reviews. Be smart and careful but it's safe. I'm gay and traveled alone so if I felt safe you certainly should. Oh the hostel is a GREAT way to meet new friends!!!
This is a nice hostel quite close to Copacabana beach (5 minutes walk) so the location is really great. The street is quite steep (30 degrees or so) so if you have heavy luggage it may be good to get a cab. Otherwise, everything went fine.
The place was a great way to meet people and find social events happening around the area, however staff, particularly the women, were not very helpful. They were horrible in giving directions and the bus and metro times dates and numbers had not been updated. I suggest doing your own research before asking them anything.
Great group of people from all walks, Brazilian and international. Fun atmosphere and easy subway access to Lapa for night life and is a close walk to the beach

Hotel close to the beach
In general, good. I just want to say, a night didn't respect the rules. People was drinking and made too much noise.
So I'm no stranger to backpacking or hostels, but I would never recommend this place to anybody. Honestly, if you're a backpacker and you're looking for a cheap place to stay in Rio while touring around and such, this is definitely not the place. This place only exists to party, basically it's a cestpool of drunken teens, drug selling travelers and sexually active foreigners. So if you fit that criteria honestly you'll probably love it, but definitely not a place I would ever return to
