Location is it's only asset

Pros: Great location
Cons: Housekeeping; our room was never cleaned during the 3 night stay.
The staff need to be sent to charm school as the service was poor. Our bathroom was never cleaned and the maid clearly did not know how to make up a bed. The hotel provides only 1 pillow per person and that too is of very poor quality. Our room had two large holes in the wall and all TV channels suffered from snow storm. And oh, the towels are as old as the hotel

Pros: So clean and tidy and the breakfast was wonderful
Cons: The room I was in was a little worn, the curtain did not close and the central heating was not warm,
Location: Very central in the old town, close to public transport. Loved walking along the river and visiting the central markets.
Situated in the old town the location is excellent and convenient to public transport to travel further afield. The hotel is grand in a old world sense, impeccably clean and tidy. The room I was in was cold (central heating was not even warm) and the curtain in the room was broken so could not be closed to keep the room warm and shut out the street lights, but this did not worry me. Breakfast was good and staff very helpful.

Close to everything

This hotel is great, it's just on the edge of the old town rather than in the centre (2mins walk) which makes it quieter. There's also the bonus of there being a secluded and yes quiet courtyard where you can sit and relax and have a beer. My room was very good, the furniture was perhaps a little dated, old creaky wardrobe but the bed was solid/comfy and the bathroom modern and recently refurbished and had a hairdryer. The fridge in the room was useful. The buffet breakfast was ample, a choice of juices, eggs cooked in different ways as well as continental style meats and cheeses. Breakfast times are very civilised, 7-10 during the week and an hour later at the weekend. There's a supermarket next door if you fancy a nibble and also an Alko Markt where you can buy draft wine. The staff were kind and were happy to get me a taxit to the airport (15 euros), the journey took about 20mins at 8am. Check in time is 2pm so don't try and do it before then as they charge 10 euros. All in all a very good place to stay, I was on my own there and felt very safe as there was a guard on the gate to let me in. Highly recommended.

Was ok

The Hotel is old and the room look not very clean, the single beds are very small. The breakfast is ok, but definitely this hotel is not 4 ****. This is just poor 3 *** standards.

Good hotel in the city centre

It was a pleasant stay. The room comfort was good and the staff members were helpful. There are lots of bars and restaurants, and shopping places near the hotel. The breakfast buffet was okay, but nothing special. To my mind, the hotel is a little overrated, it should really be a three star hotel.Anyway, the hotel was good value and met my expectations, and I will certainly consider this hotel on my next return to Riga.

stylish city center hotel

This hotel might not look impressive on first arrival, but when you enter the courtyard through the iron gates you discover a stylish and comfortable hotel. It has a decent bar, restaurant, and a tea room. The rooms are comfortable and clean.

Guy's trip

We were 3 guys heading over to Riga for a weekend. The rooms were OK, nothing fancy, quite small and somewhat frayed, but very clean. No safe in the room. However, regarding the price this is good value. The staff was very polite and helpful in any way and spoke English very well. The breakfast was average.
